Favorite: Ronald Reagan. He tried to help ease tensions between America and Communist Russia. Also, SDI (Strategic Defense Initiative, AKA "Star Wars weapons") wasn't as much of a pipe dream as many thought: China has something very similar, which came around somewhat soon after Reagan's time in office. Reagan also balanced the federal budget, and slashed taxes like hell, and was involved in ripping down teh Berlin Wall. He was also the first Republican in a while to win an election by a major landslide (well, both times, actually). Mr. Gorbechev, tear down this wall.
Despise: FDR (Franklin Delano Roosevelt). Many praise him for ending the Depression, when it's been proven that his cockamany taxes and boosting Herbert Hoover's Agricultural Adjustment Act, which unnecessarily decimated billions of crops, EXTENDED the Depression. The AAA caused lots of trouble for farmers financially, and to certain extents, not having nearly enough food to support families. The AAA was a major reason why so many low/low-middle class people starved or had insufficient amounts of food to also support families. So if "FDR's plans were a great success" means extending the Depression and destroying billions of dollars in crops/livestock for no sane reason, they worked fine. Congratulations.
Favorite ice-cream flavor: cookies and cream.

| QUOTE (Keyser Soze @ Feb 20 2009, 05:31 PM) | | FDR is the best because of the way he led, and the fact that he, well MADE THE ****ING NEW DEAL. |
The New Deal was a tyrannical approach to a predictable problem. Tax levels were raised over 60% to pay for ever-expanding welfare/government issues. The AAA being a part of it, the New Deal, as stated before, extended the Depression. FDR also blackmailed voters by threatening to take away their jobs. He packed the court (Put people in the Supreme Court only to get what they want) after the Supreme Court ruled the AAA's actions unlawful. On October 8th 1941, FDR ordered US vessels to shoot German vessels on sight. FDR lied to Congress about the USS Greer and Kearny incidents, in an attempt to get them to declare war against Germany. FDR also sent troops to occupy Greenland, Iceland and the Canary Islands without authority and illegally using conscripts.
Also, I put up a decent argument in my OP, and all you do is basically say "FDR created the New Deal. You're dumb". Way to go.
