Okay I only played a little bit into it, may play more into it later but here goes.
THE BAD: The file size is huge ... I'm guessing because you used .mp3's without compressing them? Try using .ogg's instead, or at least optimize your .mp3's or something. I'm not too big on the font you chose, but honestly it's readable so I shouldn't be complaining. Also, using the run key as the talk key doesn't make much sense to me, and is kinda annoying because my first instinct after talking is to jam the run button (Like I always do in mario games) and then I end up talking to the guy again. There seems to be a slight hiccup when you run up a slope and reach a flat surface, the same goes for when you hit a wall head-on. I also didn't like how you used default text boxes.
THE GOOD: I like the sound affects you chose, I also like the level design sort-of. If you were to work harder on it I think you could achieve great things. I also like the little touches you added here and there, such as the cannons shooting in the overworld, and toadsworth running off when you tell him that you got locked inside. The tileset work was nice and I liked the way you laid the enemies out.
The bad list may seem kinda large, but that's just me. I personally like it and I hope that you'll continue it.
