Or at least, I can. And never found a problem doing it.

Try spin jump. It might make this boss way too easy, but it's the first boss, so whatever.

I just finished beating King Bob-omb II. He was pretty hard! I didn't try spin-jumping though.
I REALLY like this game, but why doesn't King Bob-omb have hands?
Oh, and the Lakitu that's supposed to help you get back on the ring didn't help me when I jumped off on purpose. Is that supposed to happen?

I didn't play through the whole demo, but from what I've seen so far I have to say that the engine is fantastic, in fact I prefer this over a lot of nintendos official engines.
The graphics could be better, but I'm sure that you will fix that sooner or later, it is after all only a demo.

I will come back tomorrow with a full review

The graphics are unfortunately the best I can do.
Unless you mean "add more tiles to make the level design more colorful and add more special effects", I can't help the fact that my tiles and other custom graphics aren't as good as those of a real spriter sad.gif So I can live with not getting 10/10 on graphics.

But I'm glad you like the engine, and appreciate your review.
However you could wait for that review until I've uploaded the game to the mainsite (unless you want to review it twice)

Simply keep the jumping key pressed instead of shortly tapping it and you will see it makes everything a lot easier. You can even press the key before you grabbed the bar to proceed instantly. Also, keep the run key pressed.
Since those are a gameplay element that has never been in any other Mario game (afaik), it's normal that you have a few difficulties in the beginning.

I tried to play again and this time I think i found what triggers the glitch.

If you die while holding the spring the game gets stuck (no game over screen)

This is an amazing game so far but I can't progress with this glitch >:(

Oh, now that's interesting. I'll examine that as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for an update of the .exe tomorrow.

Also, you can progress, just try to not die with the spring in your hand ._.

This engine is phenomenal but one issue I have with it, and this probably just based on what I'm used to through my own engines, is that the jump height and "inertia turn-around time" make it particularly difficult to stomp on some of the smaller enemies in the game (bob-ombs). Again, this is most likely just me getting used to the engine, but I usually allow the player to decrease their horizontal movement in midair if the left or right keys are not pressed. This allows the player to manipulate their movements a little bit more if you made an error in judgment after your jump.

Great game, can't wait for more.

Well the way I handle mid-air movement is based on the Nintendo games, where Mario keeps his momentum while in mid-air.
Super Smash Bros. is to my knowledge the only "Mario game" where you become slower when nothing is pressed.
So I'm more used to the way I made it and most people who recently played a 2D mario game should be too.

But yeah, I think neither method is necessarily bad. It just depends on what you played recently.

Superb as expected.

Nitpicking:
Entering an overhead pipe is rather troublesome; since you can't enter it while spinjumping, you have to press + hold up in midair. A turbo button (that forces the game to run at maximum speed) would be convenient.

I can avoid dying with the spring, but I was exploring smile.gif
