By request from some Clickers, I've added new actions to call a Lua function with 1/2/3/4/delimited number of string parameters included in the action.

Delimited, for the record, is the same as the original Lua Object's calling convention.

yeah I just tested it out, appearently even the mousex and mousey functions inbuild in MMF2 has a delay, so it's probably not xLua's fault.

Here's my test
(if xlua had a delay, the blue would be visible from the cyan)

so yeah, I'll ask Yves about it

if you're talking about objects lagging behind the mouse cursor itself, afaik that happens with any windows program

You could try leveraging the WIN Interface to capture the mouse events, which might give you more up to date coordinates. They'd be out of sync with MMF, though.

By the way, I intend on adding some object properties to the XLua object soon. Any in particular you'd all like to have?

know anywhere I can get a list of these interface commands? I searched MSDN's homepage, but it's in Danish and therefore probably lacking like hell. Searched a bit and got nothing.

CODE

local WM_MOUSEMOVE = 0x200

function OnMouseMove (wparam, lparam)
 local x = bit.band(lparam, 0xffff)
 local y = bit.band(bit.rshift(lparam, 8), 0xffff)
end

win.ExportMessage(WM_MOUSEMOVE, OnMouseMove)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms645616(VS.85).aspx

This does have some problems in that you won't get any coordinates if you're over a windows control, like an edit box, because those controls seem to eat the notifications. But you can test it to see if it makes any difference.

obviously a place to store a script internally

probably others to have a state created/bound automatically at start of frame, have mmf interface enabled by default, etc

not sure if it's entirely possible, but also one to keep it from trying to automatically reload/run the script if there's an error

ignore that i had no idea what i was talking about

i was referring to something like:

XLua: On Error
--> List - Add line: ErrorString$("XLua")

and the list would be full of errors

but yeah that's just if you keep calling a broken function repeatedly; for some reason i was thinking it reloaded the script

sorry i'm not awake

yeah those are way off. The Y is multiplied by thousands and it doesn't count for anything outside the frame.

I made an error, I only shifted by 8 instead of 16.

But the point was to see if it even made a difference in the "delay" you see, and my suspicion is that it wouldn't, and so wouldn't be worth pursuing further.
