The whole story foreshadows it if you look closer really.

Exactly what it is going to be is kept secret or it would kind of ruin the ending

I know what you mean when you said "The whole story foreshadows it" but I gues what I'm trieng to, say is that there is a huge leap in the rising action. Spoilers:
most of the plan Veidt had was foreshadowed, but the monster itself was hadily at all. It was more or less explained by him at the end, but without that explanation made no sense at all. The reason I'm putting so much pressure on that foreshadowing is because it is realy what ties the end to the rest of the story. And the monster at the end was seperated by the lack of proper foreshadowing. Viedt's explanation was a weak bond to the rest of the story for such an extravagent event. Despite that it's still a great end. /

Spoilers:
no it wasn't- there's plenty of foreshadowing for the monster itself. Or did you miss the scene on the island with THE GODDAMN SKETCH OF THE MONSTER. Or the news with the comic book writer missing. Or the comedian freaking out because Ozymandias's plan was so goddamn stupid.

The monster itself is a huge part of the story. It's supposed to be a huge surprise anyway- when you're reading it you're not supposed to figure out what the heck is going on with it and put everything together because it's such a goddamn crazy plan. (maybe that's why you say it's not foreshadowed that well? because it is- it's just not something you're going to put together your first read through) It's crazy as hell because Veidt is the "world's smartest man"- it's not going to be something the average person should pick up. It's also crazy as hell because it shows what lengths Veidt is willing to go to in order to make the world a "better place."- yeah the world does end up being a better place, but its a total kick in the dick when Manhattan tells Veidt that "nothing ever ends"- nothing Veidt can do will set the world on track his way permanently.

Seeing it when I get the chance. I've only heard good things, factoring out they changed the ending.

Spoilers:
The whole thing with the island, with the writer as already mentioned, and the artist making pictures of the thing (as well as their comments on the many other people there) the boat exploding, what Rorschach and Nit Owl find out on Ozys computer, etc. It keeps pointing to something, but putting it together is left extremely difficult as to keep the surprise really

I've only seen the brief seconds in the commercials so I am not sure. Maybe they meant it to look like that? No idea. Wont pass too much judgment until I see the whole movie.
