...but I'm not sure which one to get.

The Xbox Arcade is pretty much out of the question, so it's between the Pro and the Elite. I have the money to get the Elite, but I'm wondering if it's worth it? The extra storage space is certainly nice, and I like the color (which is a STUPID reason to prefer it, I know. I'm just saying. I like the color.).

So is the Elite worth the additional hundred bucks? Does it tend to suffer the RRoD less than the other models (as I've heard)?

Not worth getting elite unless you're planning on buying ****loads of games.

I have the regular, play it pretty heavily, and have many arcade games, and I still have a good 6 gb left when I delete my demos.

Why get an Xbox when all of the games you can get on Xbox can be bought on PC and be 100x better? The only exception is Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but those are available for Wii and PS3 anyways, and I'm sure you have one of the two.

I'm actually not sure yet. Halo 3, even though I've only briefly played it, seems like a given (and probably the original two). I've heard so much about Gears of War that it's likely a given as well, and I can see myself downloading a lot from Xbox Live Arcade.

2GHz Dual Core, 2GB RAM, 256MB VRAM...

Not hard to come by; I could get a laptop with those specs for about $600. And a desktop for probably about $400.

Well for one thing, as Keyser mentioned, a decent PC is pretty expensive. Plus I already have a desktop and a laptop (and I don't plan on getting rid of either one). Plus I've always been a console guy when it comes to gaming (don't know why, but I've never really gotten into PC gaming except for light freeware games).

Don't know about that. There's still some decent games that don't have PC counterparts, and the Wii version of Rockband is known for being inferior.

I agree with Keyser. If your game library grows pretty big, the storage space is worth it. Not sure if you're big on XBox Live or not, but if aren't, a lot of the older XBox games may not play right without a patch. The Elite, however, plays pretty much any game I throw into it, no matter how old. I also hear the Elite lasts longer, but I haven't really looked into that.

Aside from that, though. There is no difference. The Elite I had preforms just like the normal pro I use now.

Some new PC games haven't learned to take advantage of the dual core processors yet, so they usually require upwards of 3.0GHz (single or multiple core) and better than 2GB of ram for games like Call of Duty 4, Turok, GTA IV, etc. A good video card is expensive as well.

Do the older games that aren't compatible out-of-box with the Pro model require specific, individual patches, or is it a simple matter of downloading one patch that increases backward compatibility?

600 bucks= Less than 200-300 bucks?
(For a regular 360 that is)

I have a 2.3 GHz Dual Core, 4 GB RAM and a 256 MB VRAM graphics card, and it's still not a nice PC these days.
