What made the original Banjo so good was the simplicity of it all, whilst still keeping a decent level of difficulty (albeit not if you've completed the game hundreds of times).

Odd, I loved BK because it was a far more complicated explore and collect everything game than Mario 64. I liked Tooie because it expanded on that even further.

I loved Tooie's multiplayer FPS thing, my friend and I had a number of blasts with that!

Sorry almighty twelve year old of wisdom and cool, I'll never cross your opinion again.

What made the original Banjo so good was the simplicity of it all, whilst still keeping a decent level of difficulty (albeit not if you've completed the game hundreds of times). Tooie had far too much in it, it felt like a chore to complete. The levels were really boring and oversized, it was never really clear what you had to do, and the game looked awful in general. I've tried finishing it many times, but I always seem to turn it off the instant I enter Grunty Industries.

Funny, the instant Grunty Industries opened, I got super duper pumped. I'll admit I never did finish any part of the game without a guide, but I still got pretty damn far.

And what do you mean by looked "awful"? Do you mean it had ugly visuals? Because if so you're wrong, comparatively at least. Everything in BT was made to look better than in BK, and the game's graphical style was a blast. Not that the first's wasn't but there were some major improvements, like Mumbo's model.

Also, another reason people seem to love the BK series aside from the platforming is the clever writing and the amount of zany innuendos sprinkled here and there. I love that just as much as the game itself.

I think what he means is there's gotta be something you like about the games; there's stuff in there for everyone.

In BK all the textures and models seemed to fit well together. BT looked like a rushed fan game that had too much in it. The first sign of this being the carnival level, I really felt disappointed of how non-banjo that level looked.

Well where else would you suggest that level go, anyway?

About as much non-Banjo as you'll get only exists in Banjo Pilot, honestly.

That's funny -- when I think of banjo I think of WitchyWorld.

However, I kinda half agree with you about the graphics. There were by no means rushed -- in fact I think Rare put more work into the graphics in BT than they did with BK -- but BT did feel a lot more ... dark then the previous game. The textures felt a lot grittier and much more realistic, which kinda surprised me after the wacky colorful graphics of the original.

Definitely. But that made it even MORE AWESOME for me

I'd consider Tooie to be one of the best looking N64 titles out there. The shift into grittier environments seemed to echo the darker storyline, and made sense considering the location change (like Donkey Kong Country 2, in a way).

The only thing that really dragged it down visually for me was the low frame rate. That no longer being an issue with more powerful hardware is part of the reason I'm looking forward to Tooie XBLA.

I do understand why someone may not enjoy Tooie though. The game required a lot of backtracking and navigating around huge words with a (unless you used the SUPERBANJO cheat) very slow moving character.
