INTRO
Hey guys, my name is Sunnycidal and A Naut in Time is my game. It is a Mario fangame that I created on RPG Maker VX. It is a sequel to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and it is something that I put a lot of work into. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it. smile.gif

Note: Everything from TTYD is explained thouroughly in the game, so you do not have to have any previous knowdledge of the game in order to enjoy A Naut in Time.

STORY
Three years after Mario defeated the X-Nauts and the Shadow Queen, all seemed to be calm in the Mushroom Kingdom. However, one day, Luigi receives a mysterious letter from his old friend Jerry telling him to head to Little Fungi Town, and it is an emergency. Later that day, the Mushroom Kingdom begins to get struck by odd weather conditions, such as snow in Toad Town! Mario and Luigi head off in different directions as they both go on separate adventures.

FAQ
Question: Why don't you use Mario tilesets?

Answer: I've made Mario fangames on 2k3, XP and VX and I always come back to VX, it is a much better system, has better scripts and I like it a lot more. I've tried making my own VX Mario tilesets, I've asked others, it just never comes out as good. Besides, the Mario tilesets that are available are somewhat limited, as opposed to VX's tilesets. In my personal opinion, VX's tilesets are bright and colorful and flow well with Mario sprites. Also, there are a lot of other things that capture the Mario universe besides tilesets, like music, sounds, etc. I don't think using VX's tilesets makes my game any less Mario.

Question: Luigi is as big as a tree, therefore, your game is terrible.

Answer: See above.

Question: I'm stuck, there's a glitch, what do I do?

Answer: Please be specific of where you are stuck. You may have actually stumbled upon a glitch. Please be as descriptive as possible, maybe even show a picture. I would like my game to be bug-free so any help is great. smile.gif

Wow...68MB!!! That's a lot. Any way to bring that total down?

Alright first thing I noticed was the LARGE music folder. It's taking up 48 MB of space! Convert every song to .ogg and cut the songs down to atleast 30-50 seconds long. This game can easily get around to being only 20MB.(some of the songs I saw were 3mb!)

Second, problem found. When running the game it prompted me for the "RGSS202E.dll".When I downloaded that and placed it in the folder, it then asked me for something else.

Maybe it's a vista problem, im not sure.

Yeah, I agree with the Music Folder being too large. It's something I'm going to have to shrink it seeing as there will be many more chapters to my game.

Second, you have to download and install the RPG Maker VX RTP for it to work. You can download it here:

Looks all right, but I honestly think that the battle screens should have had the same PM: TTYD/SPM font; if that isn't able to be done, I understand.

I can't comment on much yet. Didn't think it'd be that much dialog.(22 minutes in)

Still looking for the gray goomba that stole Mario's letter.

He's really not that hard to find. Toadsrict even gives you a hint. There's a passage that leads to another map where he is hiding. :/

Oh, and to the person above, I will look into seeing if I can change the text in battles to the TTYD font. I'm not sure if it can be done, but it would be cool if it could be. Thanks. :P

I removed the minigame in the Lunar Warrior Base because it was a buggy mess. Gonna start Chapter 2 soon. :O
