Super mushroom?, How?

The super mushroom powerup is a little strange.It has too many interpretations and we don't know which one is the correct one.
There are many ways to understand it:
1-When little mario and luigi get a mushroom,they become the size of princess peach.Is peach a giant or are they dwarves?
2-In 3D mario games,M&L series and cartoons,mushrooms don't appear (except in M&L,and they don't make them grow or become small) mario and luigi seem to have normal size,like peach.Looks like they ate a mushroom which never loses his power,because they look like super mario and luigi when they eat mushrooms.
3-In Paper Mario series,they seem to be small mario-luigi,and mushrooms don't make them grow.However,pach is taller than them.
4-In SM64DS,mario and luigi look like their super counterparts,but there are mushrooms which make them grow to giants(looks like the best version to me).
5-IMO,mario is aprox.1.70m (like peach) and luigi is 1.80m.When they touch a mushroom,mario grows to 5.90 and luigi to 6.00m.
Which version is the true one? Think.

I think it's a video game and different stuff happens from game to game cuz thats how Nintendo rolls.

i understand,but one version should be the "official" one,and if nintendo doesn't elect it,we could.

But yeah don't take it too seriously. In fact I think it comes from an old Japanese story/culture thing where mushrooms make you grow. When Sega announced that Pole's Big Adventure thing on WiiWare the conversation came up.

But Mushrooms also equal food and food often equals health in video games.

So yeah.

I don't think there will ever be an official type of mushroom because for every different styled mario game there is a need for a different item. Ex. In paper mario (which is an RPG) you need health items, mushrooms fit the bill. In super mario bros. You need to grow for certain things, so they made it a grow/health item. The mushroom is very adaptable.

Why does anyone care? Seriously, it's no big deal.

And mushrooms do appear in ML games. They recover health.

Theres this magical thing called "outside" you might wanna try using it. Because if your analyizing character's heights and what the hell a mushroom does to them in different scenarios you may be spending to much time with games.

Soma Mushrooms tend to effect the users in different ways each time. I doubt they'll always be having the same trip-out game to game.

I'd say that Mario and Luigi are relatively small, maybe around 1.40-1.50m, but not dwarfes.
Peach is just a normal woman with 1.60m.

And the 2D-, and 3D-Mario-Platformers, Paper Mario- and Mario & Luigi (RPG)-Games are seperate parallel universes, which has multiple similiaritys, but some differences, too. Like the Mushrooms.
In the 2D-Platformer-Dimension, they make Mario and Luigi to Super Mario and Super Luigi.
In the 3D-Platformer-Dimension, they make them to giants.
In the Paper Mario- and M&L-Dimensions, they heal Mario and Luigi/his partners.

It explains why Kammy Koopa only appeared in Paper Mario and Bowser Jr. never appeared in Paper Mario, too.

That's how big the bros are.

Some breeds of Super Mushrooms make you grow, some breeds give your vehicle a turbo, and some cure your health.

That doesn't explain how their "normal size" is smaller in the platformers than in the RPG:s and 3d games.

because they are in 2D games where abstraction is used much more often and size is a much more relative thing and they can get away with it in general

they're allowed to play with physics and size and stuff like that- in fact, they're almost expected to. people didn't care that much.

but RPGs and 3D games are much more realistic usually and don't let people mess with that kind of stuff because they could break the realism (with exceptions, obviously)

I'm trying to find an explanation that works in all games.

And this topic isn't to be taken too seriously.

try this on for size:

Much like there are multiple Toads who all are similar in look but different individuals

there could be multiple mushrooms that while physically similar or even identical, produce different effects

one red capped mushroom may make you healthier while another increases your size.

this could apply to enemies as well...while Mario's standard height is slightly smaller tha Peach and Luigi, certain breeds of goombas...koopas...ect. can cause shrinkage while being physically identical to others which simply deteriorate health.

Bowser and most bosses are magical...thus in one game bowsers magic hurts mario while in another it makes him small...depending on what Bowser wants to do with the magic...

People I think we're overthinking this.

as the mario bros. got older, they became more and more dependent on the mushrooms and the effects of them became permanent. because of this, the effect of mushrooms in the future was lessened.

Well, in the intro to NSMB.
It reveals that Mario actually ISN't naturally short.
I think Bowser Jr. squished him or something..
