The smile looks rather peculiar. I think it's perhaps too big a smile for a face that size.

Those are just examples. You don't necessarily have to draw one of those so therefore you can choose ANY mythical creature, like how I decided to draw a cecaelia.

Looks like a low opacity brush with smudge tool abuse to me.

It still looks a little rushed to me, though, to be honest; the shading seems really uneven and choppy.
