Only shojo manga I could admit that I liked was The Demon Ororon

Sure, the art wasn't that great, but it was packed with action and emotion that you could really feel, like
Spoilers:
when Ororon dies at the end, from injuries inflicted in the first book, that he was barely hanging on just to save Chiaki

was very heartbreaking

I never really liked anime, but my friends are quickly converting me into a lot of the **** I never knew about.

All the mainstream crap is terrible, but if you dig deep enough and pay attention to the places that mention the good ****, you'll find there's a lot to appreciate about it.

I will agree, it gets ****ing annoying sometimes. It all depends on what parts of it you've been exposed to. I used to detest it completely, until I found Full Metal Alchemist and Gurren Lagann. :>

I didn't like Air all that much. Everything is way too out there, the characters, setting, plot, whatever else. A good romance story has to have at least a little bit to relate to. I just found myself going "ummm ok" to the whole thing. Didn't even finish it because all of a sudden it was in feudal Japan or some **** and I was like "**** this."

I haven't watched Kanon yet, will sometime.

QUOTE (Saberie @ Apr 1 2009, 01:56 AM)
That's why Shonen anime is better; they actually have plots.

Stuff like Air and Kanon do have plots though; maybe you're getting them mixed up with slice of life anime such as Azumanga Daioh or Lucky Star- but yeah they're generally different stuff.

Shonen are fun and all but their plots aren't really anything special either though. (especially when they get dragged out to be 50+ episodes).

I found Naruto really boring and uninteresting overall. My friends lent me the first six manga books or whatever and I never really was that interested. The worst part of it is that I can still tell what's going on in the anime/manga whenever someone says anything about it. You can do that with pretty much every shonen though, probably nearly every anime too.

Gurren Lagann and Full Metal Alchemist are mainstream. Chances are, if it has a dub its mainstream.

Don't know what people's obsession is with liking things from the underground though, why does it matter so much?

psst I'll be honest and say I actually kind of appreciate naruto because the fighting scenes are amazing

they are indeed amazing,

because most are copied from existing fight scenes!

or y'know

in tribute to those series

most fight scenes are taken directly from the manga, which, as far as I know, don't copy anything

also, you can't really say "most of" when it's just two brief scenes in the entire anime you've presented

What is Naruto's business in tributing a god-tier anime like Cowboy Bebop, honestly? What does Naruto vs. Neji have anything to do with Vincent vs. Spike? Am I the only one that sees absolutely no correlations whatsoever?

the bonus is you get to see a fight scene reused (stolen)!

yeah not really seeing any benefit to anyone but the animators who get to slack off in coming up with ideas for a fight

If you bring it up in comparison to a similar movie it is on topic.

If you want to be more general like that then anime is a cartoon. It's not like people are bringing up spongebob because it is also a cartoon.

but there's really not much similarities between Naruto and whatever and Air and whatever aside from being Japanese cartoons. A Spongebob topic shouldn't end up being about Samurai Jack.

I mean, I guess I understand if Naruto is the only anime you've seen, but fyi its not related.
