My bill showed up today....

it came to $1400.00......

Ive also found out that there is no way i can qualify for that charity to cover the bill...

My friend, who i thought would have tried to make things right, has avoided me the last couple of weeks since his dog bit me...

Now i need to break it to him he's responsible for the bill.

this SUCKS!!!

I'd just flat out tell him.

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if he's a true friend, I think he'd understand and pay.

Either Way, sorry to hear about that. I went to the doctor the other day and was charged 30$ just for him to tell me "I honestly don't know why your throat hurts." (would have been a lot more but I have insurance.)

Btw, do you have insurance.?

Well at least you don't have to pay it. That's a plus.

Really now... just go to his house.

If not, just tell him you will sue him or take him to small claims court or whatever it is called (not sure of the money limit in small claims court though)

Tell him that he's responsible for the bill, if he refuses to pay, sue him for not taking responsibility for his pet's actions. Also, before Mrs. A comes in, I do know that I recommend suing for a lot of things, when it probably isn't necessary, but it's the first thing that jumps to mind.

I don't think this should be our first instinct, no, but if he's going to shirk his responsibility as a pet owner and you can manage to scrounge enough money for a good lawyer (in which case, I'd almost be wondering why you don't use that money on the bill and not risk losing the case), I'd say, yes, this is a valid circumstance to sue in.

Though, honestly, if you don't have a good lawyer, I'm not sure whether it's worth your time or effort.

its a last resort..

If he refuses the bill its the the only option left,
unless I pay it...

fact is,
If i go to a lawyer,
they will push to sue for much more than the bill,

Permanent disfigurement,
pain and suffering.
ect.

I could get an extra $2000.00+ from him.

At that rate, I'd be making a profit.
When all i really want from him is a bill payed..

You make it sound like good lawyers just spring up like weeds.

If you've got the money to crank out a lawyer's wages, you might as well just straight-up pay your medical bill and not deal with the hassle of a trial and potentially losing.

Then you could just give him back the extra money after paying your lawyer and the bill from the money you win from the lawsuit.

EDIT: Or just threaten to tell animal control and have his dog put down

the other things the lawyer will shoot for is what is going to pay his bill.

Considering im all of
broke
unemployed
and injured.

the rate being %50 of the settlement..

If it's inappropriate, then don't post it.

okay that was probably a bit inappropriate
anyway, sucks. If he's really your friend it shouldn't be a problem that he'd have to pay.

You also have a terrible employment rate and taxes up the wazoo.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I've always felt the Scandinavian way of doing health insurance (and education) was better, but a lot of Americans would look at those disadvantages and immediately conclude they outweigh the benefits. Americans don't like taxes, no matter how justified they are.
