I don't know why it's being said that the staff attitudes and choices are the problem. The staff has to make decisions on troublemakers that throw off the norm of the board, and if a member is not improving his/her act after awhile, they have all the right to throw out the unwanted material flowing into their forum.
For attitude, you wouldn't exactly be happy-go-lucky if there were members messing up your site, either, so you can't blame how the staff feel about their forums. I'll agree the connections between staff/members is a two way street, though; even if the members annoy the staff and/or the staff is having a bad day, it's up to them to retain the composure of quality moderation. That's not entirely possible, mind you, cause we're all human and bound to have some edgy days over others. But I won't say the bans of late have been unjust, for there's been fewer than there were some time ago and the board itself is feeling lighter in spirit. I also feel that solutions towards the CCC has been entirely correct as well, if members just joined for spam, then they have no need to be here on a Mario fangame forum.
Staffing is a tough job, guys. You gotta realize what they do is for the best of the forum, not particularly for you. If it doesn't fall under your spotlight, you could also try adapting to it, I guess. The moderation team is bringing down the hammer to the tomfoolery which can occur here, if people have not gotten that message by now they really should. There's just nothing else you can really do without causing a big hassle from it.
EDIT:
| QUOTE (My first post) | I wouldn't go saying attitudes have been more rude, but I will say that some GC topics have gotten more than their fair share of spammy posts lately. Not sure if it's still from all that April Fools' goofiness, but nonetheless it was there.
Some of it is caused by the new, unexperienced members. Heck, I know my posts when I was first here weren't...the best, to say the least, but over time if they stay around they should be good.
I also believe that the remaining fraction are just those few people who like stirring it up (for better or worse). Granted, by now under your control BS, we've filtered out all those bad members who just weren't up to any good at all, so that isn't much of a worry to me.
However, I do agree with Tony Trombone that the GC may need another mod to assist SGG now that Bacteriophage is out of the picture. I know we have Risa Onda too, but another wouldn't hurt if done right. |
There we go, I got both halves now. :P

| QUOTE (OSM @ Apr 8 2009, 03:33 PM) | | Why do us oldies have to conform to these new rules/guidelines just to make the new comers feel comfortable? It's like Black Squirrel is just bull dozing all the old parts of MFGG out and forcing in the new for whatever reason. |
dude, i'm on the same boat of thinking as you, but it just has to be done
If we keep changing, then we keep as many members as possible, we've got to roll along with it.
Otherwise, new members don't come, even more members leave, and we have an inactive forum - and we are not, as members and staff, about to make a forum on a paid server inactive, because we might as well just obliterate it.
(Of course RII's server houses other forums and sites, but it's the principle of the thing.)
Besides, all popular message boards have this happen to them.
EDIT: DY, I actually now remember that Nightwing did get after Joey for a bit, but I thought his primary biggest concern was with me.

No, I'm sorry but I do not agree with this at all. If this is what MFGG really wants to head toward, then consider me another leaving old timer. This time for good.
I don't give a rats ass if I'm joked about behind my back or pinned as another nightwing or joey in the future, all I know is that MFGG is probably the most unbalanced and hypocritical forum I've ever been to. It was never this bad, I don't know why you guys still decide to deal with Black Squirrel's or whoever's shpeal, it's ridiculous and completely illogical.
I guess your system really works Black Squirrel. Too bad it won't be long until a new wave of members act differently and then you'll have to fix the rules around ONCE AGAIN. You aren't helping MFGG, you're just making it go through the same cycle it's gone through for three years now.
I hold nothing against you as a member, in fact I think you're a pretty chill person, but as an admin you never should have been one.
