by 'slow' do you then mean the runtime speed or the development speed?

edit: also isn't it obvious that you'll get maybe 1 vote on assembly, max 3 on C++ and then rest GM?
This vote is pointless

By Slow I mean runtime speed, as I also said "Very Easy".

@EDIT: Yes I know that, but I'm bored, and curious.

This poll has tunnel vision.

Also, choosing assembly for real work is foolish. It's instructive to learn to better understand how computers process, but beyond that it's not portable, it's time consuming to develop, and it's impossible to maintain. Compilers do almost as good of a job as you could do anyway.

C is practically a portable assembly language anyway.

lua's not up there

an 'other' option's not up there

THEREFORE i withhold voting

EDIT: imo better choices would've been:

* Assembly languages (ex: x86, ppc, etc)
* Machine-code compiled languages (ex: c, c++, etc)
* Interpreted/scripting languages (ex: javascript, lua, python, etc)

but still, like rii said, assembly languages aren't really something you want to use unless you really have to (performance optimization, embedded systems, no other choice, etc)

I vote C#, oh wait, I can't.

I hate polls, people always leave something off.

It also depends on what you're programming, pretty much everything I would have usually done with C++ I do with C# now, because it might not be as fast at some things but it sure does save a buttload of time on development. If we were talking about web development then I'd pick PHP, but only because I haven't tried any other server-side languages, or any client-side for that matter.

I like to use different programming languages for different purposes. Sometimes even mixed if it is sensible in that case.

It should depend on what you want to do.
Even though I can program in C and C++ I still find it more efficient to make fangames in GM at this point.

And just because you know Assembler doesn't mean you need to use that and only that.

SQL is a very limited programming language, but to program databases, I'd use that and not C++ or GML or Assembler.

Programming languages are like tools. If you want to hang a painting on the wall would you rather use a hammer and a nail, or would you instead chew on a tree until it bears ressemblance to a nail and then punch it into the wall with your bare fists?
Both lead to the same result if done right, however the hammer does it better in less time and it looks nicer, too.

After programming under PALib and using PHP, I prefer a medium control language. I used to dabble in ASM, but only in hacking.
