VC gifting: Majora's Mask?

Article 1: Majora's Mask is out in Europe and some other places
Article 2: Wii Shop Channel supports "gifting" Virtual Console games to friends

Hypothesis: Someone in Europe can gift Majora's Mask to a friend in the US
Result: Majora's Mask on VC in the US...?

Has it been tried yet? If not, anyone willing to give it a shot?

Fairly sure it can't be done. You could try switching the country your Wii says it's in to Australia or something and then go to the VC.

It'll be on American VC soon enough. SMB:LL and SMRPG did.

No, PSI, I'm pretty sure the correct region is coded into the mac address of your system or something.

Either way, unless the game was released here, you can't get gifted a game from Europe.

The region locking on Wiis is horrible, as Techokami will tell you. It's not a case of not being able to distribute games between America and Europe, it's a case of not being able to distribute games between countries.

Example: As a Brit I can't gift games to French people. Or Germans. Or the Dutch etc. and they're all within Europe. Now if people can't gift to those who life across the border, they stand no chance in gifting those across the atlantic ocean

Trust me if they could I wouldn't be hanging onto Techokami's $10.83
