This is all assuming that your game is 2D and 16 Pixels = 1 Meter and that your speed is measured in Pixels/Second.

Force Exerted by Air Resistance(In Newtons):

Size Where: Formula
Small Land: -0.87965(16*speed)^2
Super Land: -1.72315(16*speed)^2
Small Water: -0.73(16*speed)^2
Super Water: -1.43(16*speed)^2

Remember that 1 Newton is enough force to move 1 kg of Mass 1 Meter Per Second Every Second. I think that MFGG should decide on a standard to use as Mario's Mass for Small and Super so I can extend the formulas to give you the speed he slows down due to Air Resistance.

I'm reminded of this guy who once used advanced trigonometry to show Shadow's chaos control is stronger than Sonic's.

I dunno, I just have the need to have OMG REALISTIC PHYSICS in my game.

Gravity is 156.8 pixels/sec^2 or 2.61+1/300 pixels/frame

to be honest, i'm pretty sure Shigeru said "Mario falls 3 pixels a second and jumps two pixels a second, let's do it"

So obviously, with your realistic physics, Mario only jumps about 4 or 5 pixels off of the ground because a body could never, in a realistic physical environment, jump 5-10 times it's body height with a human anatomy.

So if your game has realistic physics, as you say, its going to suck because realistic human jumping does not a good platformer make.

so essentially we've created a Mario model for Splinter Cell and inserted him in

sounds good if i wanted to play Splinter Cell

Actually I had some problems with a human being who is able to hang upside down and somehow muster the strength and leverage needed to snap a neck, all of this with the blood rushing to his head and his vision blurring.

I meant the World Physics are realistic, not Mario's insane Jumping Abilities.

but mario is supposed to be able to run really fast if you hold down 'B'
have you considered this in your equations

also how much of a change is this from regular mario games

find the scientific formula that makes blocks able to defy gravity on command so that it's positioned perfectly based on the amount of pixels extending vertically from the top to bottom of the screen. gotta find the distance between the ground and equilibrium point of gravity so that it doesn't accelerate into the ground.

but no I see what you're trying to do. If those formulas give you the desired effects you were looking for, then why not. I'm all for seeing a comparison between these realistic mario physics and regular "older" used game physics.

Derailed topic is derailed, sorry, Oni. MFGG doesn't like realism in Mario games.
