Of a Wii game.
Is there a way to dump the files of it to my hard drive? I remember using the GCMTool suite to do the same thing but with GameCube games.

ISOs are just regular archives with extra options for burning the image to a disk. Get 7-zip and extract the contents.

Yeah except not.
Wii images seem to be... encrypted? or compressed, I dunno. It's just that mounting doesn't do justice.

They probably have a better encryption than GC games. I'm sure it's been figured out - just search Google or something.

sigh.
retroxyz: please don't spread misinformation. computers can use more than 8GB RAM, single-core processors can run over 2GHz, and wii disc images use a special proprietary filesystem that's completely different from the iso9660 standard.

this is why I'm largely against calling them "ISO" when they're not. they're disc images, yes. but they have little to nothing to do with the reason that ISO's are called ISO's. this is why I pushed for people to call gamecube disc images GCM's (which was their proper name - GameCube Master, this was used internally in nintendo too). dunno a better file extension to use for wii, since calling them "ISO" is so damn prevalent already, but at the very least we can call them "wii disc images" or something in conversation to avoid mix-ups

the issue isn't a matter of encryption -- when you download or dump a wii or gamecube game, chances are the decryption is already done for you. it's only a matter of having the right tools to extract the contents from nintendo's special filesystems.
there do exist tools for doing this with wii images. as I recall, the "trucha signer" tool is capable of extracting files in a similar manner as GC-Tool was. information on the disc format can be found here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wiidisc

These are the kinds of answers I expect to hear.
When I'm using the wrong terminology, I'm corrected. When I'm given misinformation, I'll be reinformed with facts. When I need help, I receive it.
Thank you, Lightning.

I never said they couldn't run, I just didn't think they were made. And even that statement was horribly wrong, but don't stereotype and think that just because a few things I say are wrong means that I am always wrong. Besides, that isn't really on topic.

That I wasn't thinking about due to the fact that he said "ISO."

The file I have is named "something.iso". I assumed it is a standard 'ISO-file' I've handled in my past.

I do believe we're done here, though.

What Lightning said. I used Trucha Signer to get information from the SPM image. But there's a few pieces you'll have to track down on your own to actually accomplish anything with it, so browse Google on the subject.

There's a couple of you that constantly need correcting. 30 seconds on Google can be helpful if you're going to assert something.

How about WDIs.

Wii Disk Images. And hell, why not just do what Linux does and sort things by MIME type instead of extension - it's just easier.

Yes, Trucha-Signer can do it for you. But you need a key that it takes about 5 seconds to find on google.
