why did the chicken cross the road?

if the chicken wanted to cross the road it could have, so there's really nothing to answer here; then again, that wouldn't be very smart of the chicken, and I question said chicken's intelligence. but it would also depend upon the traffic of said road, and the amount of people currently on the sidewalks, if the road even has sidewalks. chances of a chicken being in the middle of a city is very low, so I'll assume that instead the chicken is somewhere in the countryside -- therefore I'll assume that the road is probably made of dirt and most likely safe to cross. that being said, what's on the other side? what does the chicken have to benefit from crossing the road? is there food on the other side? did the chicken see something of interest and thought he needed to cross it? did the chicken drink too much last night and pass, out only to wake up with a hangover on the other side of the road? the most logical conclusion is that the chicken crossed the road because he felt like it; and thus, the answer is the chicken crossed the road because his instincts told him too! although next time people ask me such a question I'll require that they give me more information instead of simply asking me why a bloody chicken crossed the goddamn road.
