This is just for information because I believed most people had CRT, I have LCD and CRT. This made me believe 640x480 was a "perfect" resolution but I am slightly retro so this is to make sure.

But 640x480x24@60Hz IS Perfect! That's what my game is using!

I have a 1440x900x32@75Hz LCD Monitor.

I have a dual 1680x1050x32 @ 61Hz setup. It's pretty awesome, I'm actually considering buying a third.

I have CRT and LCD

The point is of this is we have "a lot" of CRT monitors but I didn't exactly grow up in their but I believed most people have CRT as stated but most have LCD

Why does it matter?

LCD technology is different than CRT as for if a game was made so it's screen size could change to a resolution like 1650x1050 (without changing output) the image would be perfect as opposed to changing the output or scaling up (a CRT could display any resolution with decent quality and smoothness). LCD also have a slower response timing.
