i just found out the problem after listening to the original SPC closely
the SNES... doesn't use a heavy guitar for that part - i mean, the sample is labelled as one, but it's more of a harsh bass, though they wanted to use a distorted guitar for it
also i think my sample is just too loud, as the Brawl version just cuts into it with no transition (except the drums, which this one does too) - the difference is, the guitar on the Brawl version is low in volume enough to tie into the tom drums
so yeah, i'll have to turn down the volume of the guitar
some day
