Music Competition #14 - Mario 1-1 goodness

So since I won the last music competition it falls to me to make a new one! I thought a little about what to make it but decided ultimately to make it a Mario one simply because I believe we've only had 1 here since they started. Crazy.

I want to hear what people can make of Mario level 1-1 music. Not just from Super Mario bros 1 though, it could be the first level music of Mario 1, Mario 2, Mario 3, SMW (though I think there's 2 levels you can play first but they're basically the same), even NSMB.

Gotta be a Mario platformer though, and only one of the 2D ones, so not Galaxy or Sunshine music etc. No spinoff games either. Any issues? Voice them here I suppose.

What about the SML games?

Do the 3d games count as well? Bomb-omb field, That sunshine one, Good Egg Galaxy?

I think i'll limit it to only 2D Mario games, so Super Mario Land maybe, but not Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy etc. Also no Wario or Super Princess Peach music either.

What about Mario is Missing?

Anyways, how about NSMB?

Might want to scratch off Super Mario Bros. 1-1; we did it before for either Music Comp 1 or 2.

NO Mario is Missing, that's a spinoffy game, and New Super Mario Bros is allowed because it's 2D Platforming.

And i'll leave Mario Bros 1-1 simply because I think people can do something new with it even if they've entered before. You're just not allowed to enter your old entry, do one of the other 1-1's, simple!

Anyway I think people know the rules and just about everyone knows the Mario music off by heart so I expect lots of entries. Good luck!

does this include Super Mario Land 2?

yes, since that's a 2d game that stars Mario as well

Yeah but not Mario Land 3 because that's a Wario game... oddly enough.

Hell, all of SML's music is catchy.


If I figure out a decent way to record myself playing I'll try to come up with something.
