This is mine and Frogjester's entry for minigame competition #46:

You play as a Q block and try to collect as many coins as you can by the end of the level.

If you want we can continue it after the comp to add the levels that aren't in there(sorry I didn't help) and I can make some new tiles.

Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't mind making this a 3-world, 12 level game.

But what do you think of the basic thing so far?

It was good, but a few things:

.mohawk goomba's line of vision should be invisible and shouldn't show through walls(I dunno how to fix this, maybe making the line of vision smaller when it touches a wall?)

.maybe some pipes? What you could do is when you go down a pipe a chunk of ground fades away(like that awesome effect you did) and reveals a hidden room

.you should probably make the goombas squish animation slower for better comedic effect or something

.instead of an exit you complete a level when you collect all the coins, some of which are hidden, so you can explore a bit

.implement all the enemies and the boss

The jumping shouldn't be so delayed. Other than that, this is pretty good.
