I want to set up a group or something, and make a random game

yeah, I've been uninspired lately and I think it would be fun to work on a small game with a group of people.
I dunno, PM me if you're interested. I seriously have no idea where this is going, but it might be fun!

k, I currently have one contender (not sure if he wants to remain anonymous or not), so if anybody else wants to join PLEASE pm me. ANYBODY can join, as long as you have experience with something related to game design.

we currently have a very rough outline of what the game is gonna be, just a heads up for people interested.

I could program DLLs for you, just not any Graphical ones(dunno how GM's Graphics System Works). They WILL be programmed in ASM/C for maximum speed and minimum size!

If I have to make a Sound DLL, I'll make a SDL_Mixer Wrapper for Game Maker.

I'm doing the sprites and I have some ideas.

Meh, I want to help, especially because I can never end up finishing what I start by myself.

I can mainly sprite sprites taht aren't sprites. What i mean is I can do basically anything that isn't an enemy or character, I might be able to, just don't have much practice with that.

don't worry doomlord, the game doesn't call for overly-complex graphics or anything.

anyway, here's the group so far:
-Funky (spriter, planner)
-CaptainSyrup (position pending)
-Doomlord250 (coding [unreg], spriting [minor], anything else)

also I have another person who is thinking about joining.


and that's it so far. I ask everybody who's in the group to please not reveal anything about the game, despite how shallow the concept currently is.

also, I'm thinking of a way we could possibly contact each other without having to use PM's. hamachi maybe?

okay, I want everybody to download hamachi so we can discuss the game as a group without having to constantly PM eachother.

it's really easy to use, just follow the steps at startup and you'll get it. tomorrow I'll create a private network -- don't worry, I'll pm you the password and everything. just a heads up.

We do have one limitation, timezones.
As both Funky and I are on the opposite side of the earth.

I don't know exactly where you live but you are about -6-10h from us.

Could you port the game to GM6 (free v6.1) when you're finished?

yeah, we're gonna have to work that out sometime. for now this is more of an experiment, so basically whenever you guys are available I'm open for discussion -- when we get more serious we'll start planning things out more.


anyway, it's coming close to the end of the school year for me, which means finals and stuff so don't expect anything exciting any time soon!

you mean the source? maybe, I dunno. personally I don't want to make it open-source but that's a decision that should be decided as a group.


also (not directed at you old school), I've got three of you guys on hamachi, which is great, but I need the rest of you.

in about two weeks I want to work on this full force, if you have anything you want to talk to me about, contact me! as I said in my previous post, schoolwork is my top priority right now, when summer starts I'll have no life which means we can actually make progress.

Screw Hamachi. I don't feel like keeping it. I'd rather use something like aim myself. I don't care what you do, but I don't really want to use that. It always needs to be logged on, gives me no notification of messages, and is easily accesible to my other sibling. I don't care what you do, aim, pms, whatever, but I'm unistalling that for this and other reasons.

You can just exit out of it, you need to be logged on for AIM too.

It flashes orange/yellow in the taskbar when its not the main window, if its the main window, you should be able to see the new message yourself.

Delete the shortcuts or only put the shortcut in a place you only know. Or, you could create your own user thing on Windows, and set a password.

I think hamachi is better than AIM, because you don't have to worry about logging in, creating a new account, and setting up a new private chatroom every single time.

@Razz, don't worry schoolwork is more important anyways.

I have a hamachi on my mom's computer...

but not on my laptop.

I might get it sooner or later.

but probably never.

I might have considered joining if I wasn't already busy helping someone with their game. Speaking of which I should go do that now.
