Definitely good for a first attempt, especially if you wrote the code yourself


I didn't write the code myself for LuFa 4 and this already feels better than that

thanks

the only thing i haven't been able to do is scrolling

i mean, i can make the background scroll but then it totally messes up collisions and ol' simon there just falls through the floor

updated

- z button swings the whip
- you can't change direction in the air while jumping
- you can only move while whipping if you're jumping

i still have to fix the moonwalking and stop simon from shuffling forwards while using the whip on the ground

Snazzy but has some basic flaws:
-Left + right will halt you
-Direction change only occurs upon one frame on the walking sprite. Mash right and left to make you walk a bit backwards, or jump a while and change your direction to moonwalk(jump?)
Other than that pretty nice.

updated again

- press down to go through doors
- support for "levels" added

i still need to fix dracula and mend some issues with simon's hitbox and movement

also, i should probably add in some food or something to restore health as well as sound and death effects

I really enjoyed the original nes Castlevania, so this is just amazing in my book

although it could do with some scrolling instead of constant doors (even when a scroll would seem more appropriate).
And when jumping, a collision is detected 1 block before the actual collision.

and how do I beat Dracula

you ever beat dracula in the original castlevania? just jump over his fireballs and whip him in the face, you have to be somewhat accurate about it

unfortunately, scrolling's the only thing i haven't been able to do

i can make the screen scroll, but it completely messes up collisions and the player runs into imaginary walls and falls through the floor

also, the hitbox is 32*64 pixels, which is a little bit taller than simon's animations

i should probably shorten it a little bit

i'll also open up that area people are getting stuck in
