Sutte Hakkun, Help needed

Okay so
Remember that old awesome SNES game nobody else remembers but you? Yeah, that Japanese one, with the beautiful graphics and that bird and the dog?
That's Sutte Hakkun, baby.
Gideon Zhi attempted this back in 2006, and hasn't informed us on it ever since, but claims to have made 50% progress.
I tried to revitalize the project at 2008, about a year ago, but lost interest (for the same reason I might give up on this, too).

So now I've decided that I take it like a man and hack this ***** up. The reason I stopped the 2008 project was because I don't know a single word in Japanese. I've so far only translated the obvious things like the 'Copy file' and 'Erase file' and simple words that represent commands like 'next' and 'previous', etc.. And now the rules table, thanks to Flarona, some girl who was generous enough to translate it.

I'm using the headerless 3MB ROM version, "Sutte_Hakkun_(J)_(NP).smc". Get it if you want to play.

Just so happens I was wondering whether it would be worth hunting for that ROM recently - if a translation's on its way I'll wait for that instead, even if it does take months. Aside from what I assume are the level descriptions it almost looks done

Well, you'd think so, but not entirely. I've still got to translate probably the biggest amount of text in the game; the Hakkun House. It's got several little tutorials in it which are gone through step-by-step. Each must be translated. Not a difficult job, but a big one.

Also bumpin' dis for anyone who knows that Japanese. These are the level info-boxes. Any idea?

Not really.
I hit a major speed-bump; the Staff Challenge levels. I must beat them in order to unlock a feature that I can observe so I can translate it.

There are no documented cheats of Sutte Hakkun, sadly.

Welcome to my world -- I've only finished the first one of those puzzles, and I have absolutely no idea how to finish the rest of them! D:

There seems to be some sort of cheat that you get from the Makkun races.

Yeah, I know about that strange button combination.. I have no idea where to use it though. I've tried everywhere.
I've beaten 6 of the staff levels iirc, but they are VERY tough.
Sure, there's no point counting anymore and you can save wherever you wish, but that does not make up for the fact that the hint system is gone.

EDIT: One of the Makkun races (was it #10?) has some Japanese writing on it as well.. in the middle of the level, one hovering unreachable block. Maybe it has a hint to where the code must be input?

Yeah, it was the 10th level.



The block says "中間地点", which translates to "midway point", so that's not telling us where the code's used.

...and you've finished 6 of them? You're definitely a lot better than I am. D:
