but didn't you use M&L PiT sprites for the Pokey in Pokey pileup?

Nah someone made a Custom M&L sprite on Spriters Resource. At least I THINK so.

Another quickie update, this is probably the title screen minus some possible flair.

It's meant to look like a signpost, and using the magic of 3D I made a cool logo.

YOu should consider creating a Mario Party game with these mini games. The images look really good and well, keep that in mind biggrin.gif

If you never played Mario party, google it. Mario Party 3 is my favorite.

The way he has it set up is original and more free than Mario Party, so I would suggest keeping it that way.
The Title Screen is nice by the way, but it doesn't look like the two parts of the sign are connected- Looks like it's just floating...
Other than that, I eagerly await a demo :3

I own plenty of Mario Party games but keeping this game away from any board game theme was always my intention. I intended, really, to make a better single player Mario Party. I always thought Mario Party games could use a single player component that wasn't tacked on and was way more free but also encouraged competition like online high scores and more reason to play.

So yeah don't expect me to turn this into anything resembling Mario Party.

By floating you mean because of that Shadow? As for a demo, I had one once but i'm not making a demo of this. It'll take the fun out of half of it because when the full thing is released, you'll already know half of what the game has to offer.

Two small updates, first is a minigame that's almost done.

Rocket Bill! Basically you have to charge the rocket with fuel, each counter appears and the closer you stop the ticker to the centre, the more fuel you get. After 4 counters, you're prompted to "get ready to mash like crazy!", after which you button mash shift for a few secs for extra fuel.

After that it takes off and you have to try collect coins and avoid obstacles in the air. The more fuel you have, the more chances for coins. I might try devise a high score system for it too.

Second is I made some SMB3esque blocks for the overworld to add some retro feeling to it. Nothing fancy, but I like 'em.

I also need an idea for a water-based minigame. I realised today my engine has a fully-working water element to it, but haven't got a good idea for a water game. Ideas?

Also I updated the wikipedia page for it.

Stage 2 of the above minigame, avoid the Koopeas and collect shooting stars. I made them stars because they were easier to see.

Lookin' good, Krit - while I'm normally not a fan of mini-games, I must admit you've got me interested. Perhaps it's the overworld linking it all together, or maybe the sheer thought put into each game... possibly the polished presentation all round. Nice work!

However, I do have one nag:
QUOTE
- Kutout Koopa Kids:

While I'm sure this is an honest oversight, I do believe a change in name is in order. Do I really need to explain why? ^_^; Try Cutout Koopa Kids. Or Kutout Koopalings, if you so insist on keeping the K. ;P

That aside, perhaps another aspect gearing my interest is the time you've spent working on this. What with the restart, the retool, and complete dedication to the project every few weeks or so, saying that it WILL be completed... that's very much me. So much like when I was working on TSB (and now Psycho Waluigi), heh... you know you've come this far, so you know you can't give it up, no matter how long it takes.

Which brings me to a problem I experience while working on my games, one that I wonder if you may experience as well - do you ever find that you made your game so fun, you actually spend more time playing it than actually working on it? And I don't mean playing strictly for the sake of testing... I mean playing because you enjoy it way more than you should. ;D

Oh, and one more question: when you ask for MFGG character sprites, do you need any particular frames or poses, or would a single image do?

Thanks TD! I appreciate any feedback from you. I'm not sure why Kutout Koopa Kids is bad but I like the name Kutout Koopalings better so i'll probably change it to that.

And yeah i've been slugging away at this game since 2003 now, the biggest worry for me isn't getting it DONE, rather it's getting it finished and having it be nowhere near as fun as it should be given the time and effort that's gone into it. I'd hate to release it this year or next year and get mediocre reviews.

Still, you're right about having fun with it. I find myself not bored at all as I test the minigames over and over again, and quite often start the game up and i'll play just for fun and to see how things still feel, which is great. I think it's a good sign people like me and you enjoy not only what we do (even if it takes forever), but also what we've created.

As for a sprite, single pose/single frame will do, the only requirement is that it's Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga styled. You're definitely deserving of a cameo, I still have the original Golden TD statue that used to be looming in the very centre of the park when it was MFGG land, i'd love to have you back in there in some way =P

Looks good so far! Are you planning to add a coin machine that changes coins into tickets for the arcade?

Nope, the arcade uses regular coins, but it's most likely going to be 1 coin per game which isn't much at all.
