Well in the past few months I've been working on multiple projects, so I figure I'll just show what I've got here.

GENERIC SHOOTER
user posted image
This was the project I was doing for my last month in high school, since we had a senior project exhibition and I figured I would take a shot at it, since usually every year people have some pretty bland projects people are forced to look at for forty minutes during their gym class. I was originally just going to try to finish one of my bigger projects, but I figured in that time period that it wasn't going to happen at all.
user posted image
I figured most people would be awful at a game like this though, so I decided to give a difficulty option so people had the choice to challenge themselves or not, and go figure, most people didn't want to. The few that did got treated to a decent experience, since the easy mode was pretty bland and everything was easier to kill. The game's difficulty would also change accordingly on how many people were playing, and bullet damage would be scaled differently in accordance to that as well.
user posted image
There were several codes you were able to use after selecting the difficulty and joining in, none of which actually altered the game, they just swapped your ship graphic. This was still a big hit though for whatever reason, the codes were printed out with the characters you'd unlock being blurred out. Some people actually took the time out to memorize what each did and they wrote it down for others, including codes I didn't even have pinned up and they figured out by themselves.
user posted image
Gameplay was very simple, and I figured people would get very bored of it if I just made it single player, which is why I went out of the way to make it four instead, which attracted much more attention for it. When I presented it, I had two X-Arcade two player joysticks set up with the controls mapped, and the image from the laptop that had the game on it was being displayed through a TV screen. The layout had some technical information about the game on the side, as well as some beta screenshots, and the codes. No one really cared about the poster board I was required to set up though, everyone was just playing the game. I got speakers for it as well and blasted them as loud as I could, which managed to gather even more attention over to it.
user posted image
Some people actually ditched classes to keep coming back to play it, certain people who also had project booths up just went out of their way to come over and play the game. I had asked Zeldafreak for music for a different game I was working on, and I reused some of it for this game instead, as the content in game had to be original. I also reused some graphics from the other game in here, since I only had about a week to rush this out. Overall it was a big success though, and made for a pretty great experience.

that... sounds like a very creative project and i wish more kids these days could be as inventive as you at projects(self included)

seems you hit the nail on the head as far as making it appealing and hooking players goes, and the extra little easter eggs sound pretty fun to go through(who honestly dislikes the ability to customize their appearance)

good job and sounds like it would have been a good 40 minutes spent viewing it.

UNTITLED

user posted image
Someone I knew was talking to me about Klik & Play and the goofy sound effects it had in it, and I had recently drawn a sprite for him, so out of boredom, I just decided to do a complete game within Klik & Play for him that day. Rather than just doing a broken mess with the default platform movement, I tried to work around it so it'd play out much smoother.
user posted image
The game was still difficult despite having smoother controls than most Klik & Play games, but levels were still made pretty simple so if you knew where everything was, you'd be able to breeze right through it, rather than being hindered by the bad default controls Klik & Play provides you.
user posted image
It was actually pretty fun working on this game, since I was trying to push the limits of Klik & Play as far as I could, which in all honesty wasn't too hard to do. I figure I should put the game out some time, as there's quite a bit in it, and it'd be helpful for those who would want to make a game in Klik & Play I guess.
user posted image
The game wasn't very long at all, just a few levels and a boss at the end, and then the game would end. I made heavy use of all the default Klik & Play sound effects, but also tossed in a lot of my own, as well as sounds just from other video games. It's pretty hard to just describe this game, since overall it was just a complete joke, but I tried to at least make it playable for a joke game.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG
user posted image
I am fairly certain I posted this game, but I know I didn't post the latest version of it. Basically, I found some Sonic group months back, and I told them I was making a game for them. They were all so excited, and wanted all of their fan characters included in it. I agreed to toss them all in, but I refused to show anything to them aside from screenshots.
user posted image
It's best that I just showed them screenshots, because in motion, this game just looked ridiculous. That's good though, because I wasn't actually trying with this game, I was just throwing everyone in so I could make a mockery of their characters. I never did finish the game, as they finally closed down their group after about two years, so I entirely stopped this one, which is a shame because I had a lot of fun working on it.
user posted image
Probably the best part of this one was that there were some many randomized events to take place. Loading screens would have random messages, some just giving advice, others spoiling the game, and some just being plain ridiculous. The level image on the loading screen would sometimes change as well, whether it was upside down, or replaced with a picture of some guy dressed up like Sonic.
user posted image
Gameplay was ridiculous, Sonic would slide around everywhere due to how fast he would run. If you attempted to turn around, you'd hear a car skidding as Sonic struggled to turn, but rarely would fully slow down without crashing into something, as it took about two seconds. If you crashed head first into some walls in the game, you'd actually break through them and just die. There were randomized sound clips for Sonic's voice, and they weren't his actual voice actor or anything, I just got a friend to yell out certain things. At the end of the level you would get a grade, and unless you had played the level hundreds of times and memorized where everything was, you'd never get a grade above an A. Despite this all being a joke and mocking how Sonic games played out, looking back it was actually pretty close to some of them, so I guess people wouldn't be able to tell this was a flat out joke.
user posted image
After levels you'd be taken to an overworld screen like Sonic 06, because nothing would make this game any worse aside from tossing one of these in. You just run around and talk to people, and do chores for about ten minutes before you can finally play the next level. Some people on the overworld were a part of this Sonic community, so I was able to take some cheap shots at them as well. Overall, this game was a ton of fun to work on, and I just wish their community didn't fall apart, as I would've loved to finish this one.

UNTITLED BEAT 'EM UP
user posted image
There is still very little I can show for this that actually has some graphics in, but this is my current focus right now. I basically had the idea of a beat 'em up with some of the depth of a fighting game, since I had never really seen it done before. I always felt the beat 'em up genre had the most room for possibilities really, but no one really even bothers making them anymore, not sure why. This was originally what I was going to try to finish for my senior project, but I realized with all I had wanted to do, there was no way I could get everything working just the way I wanted in just a month, although I made pretty good progress.
user posted image
Now I still have lots of place holder graphics, mainly because I've been waiting for Medaforcer to provide art, which I've been waiting for for MONTHS now. The gameplay I am still trying to tidy up and get just right, as I want everything to just play out the right way, which is why I keep going back and adjusting delay times for moves, damage, scoring, pretty much everything just over and over again. I am nearing completion for the basic engine though, and I am finally adding in special moves, meaning I am almost ready to start work on enemy A.I., but I still have quite some way to go. I'd say by winter I'll probably have something playable out, but for now this is still in just a simple engine testing phase.
user posted image
Beat 'em ups usually are just pick up and play, there's no real depth to them, so anyone can just pick it up and mash an attack button to beat up enemies. While I wanted this game to have some depth with everything, I knew it wouldn't be easy to get into if I made it too complex, so I tried to keep moves and combos simple, so anyone can at least get three hits, since you just have to mash the same attack button to do so. There are more complex things you can pull off though, and every character is going to have different moves, special moves, play out differently in terms of speed and damage, and also have their own unique super moves. I finally got some weapons working, but they're fairly standard at the moment. The game's style is sort of supposed to be something similar to No More Heroes, nothing is to really be taken seriously, and the game is just going to have goofy characters with over the top moves. Hopefully Medaforcer will provide some artwork soon!

Stuff I Never Got Around to

THE ADVENTURES OF SONICHU
user posted image
This one was starting to take off, and this was before Chris-Chan even posted a YouTube video about having a game made, so I was there early, and was going to surprise him with it once I got a lot done. Problem is, someone I showed it to took it and posted it on 4chan, which lead to everyone emaling Chris-Chan about it, someone even sending him the demo. He eventually emailed me and said he liked it so far, but wanted more focus on Sonichu, and said he would tweak it in Gamemaker, despite me not even making it in that, if I gave him the source. I just stopped after that, since he wasn't even supposed to find out about it.
POWER STRANGERS
user posted image
Of any of these games, this one is the least likely I'd ever go back and work on again. Power Strangers was a series that ran at Medaforcer's high school on their TV block, and basically I was going to make it play out like the old SNES games but with him and several others as playable characters. It became too much work though, and I just stopped with it.
SUPER HAMMER BROS. 2
user posted image
This one got started and then put on hold pretty quickly, but it was going to play out differently than the first, and would support two players, plus it was going to offer multiple stages, bosses, and different characters. Graphics were going to have an overhaul, but I never got around to it.
GUITARFUSION
user posted image
I was trying to get a five button Guitar Freaks working for ages now, and when I finally got the BPM formula down and working flawlessly, I then went on senior project and began working on my other project. I may come back to this one later, as I did have a song creation tool ready for it.

Definitely liking the arcade motif you've got going through these games

Those are some awesome looking games.

Were they made using something like GM or MMF, or coded from scratch?

EDIT: Oh you're on your final post, just PM me if you like and I'll post your reply up here :3
