Anyone here play MHF2? I've been addicted to this franchise since the original came here for the PS2. For those of you wondering why I'm even posting this topic (because MHF2 has no real 'Online' mode), there is a quick and easy way to get it online and kicking butt with other people.

It's called the Japanese ad-hoc party. Only downside to this is that you have to own a PS3 as well. But for the (I'm going to guess) minority of people who own a psp, MHF2, and a PS3, I'm going to drop a nice little guide here on how to get started. Believe me, the game is a million times more fun with four people kicking a wyvern in the huevos.

First off, you need to make sure your PS3 is HARDWIRED to the internet. Wi-Fi connections don't work for Ad-Hoc Party.

You'll need a Japanese PSN account, which surprisingly enough is extremely easy to make. You can follow this Youtube video to figure out how to do it step by step (but if you can read Japanese, then well... aren't you special.)

Once you've made the account (and you still can't read japanese), here is a guide to show you where on the PSN store to find Ad-Hoc Party

Ad-hoc Party Download - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2QXp51GDqg&feature=related

Once you have it downloaded and installed, all you have to do is run it. Getting used to the japanese controls can be a pain, but the above video should show you a little of how the system works.

If you get an error trying to access it for the first time, you have to accept the license agreement (which can be a pain to find, since its all in japanese). It might take a little poking and prodding on your behalf to find it, but there are only a few options there to look through.

Once you get into the lobby selection, all english MHF2 players meet up in Lobby J, room 50 or 51. Lobby J is the first lobby to the Left of A. Once you get into a room, you'll see a bunch of little houses. You can go into these houses by pressing circle, then going to the second option.

These little houses represent open Ad-Hoc connections that your PS3 uses to get players together. If you're playing MHF2, going into the online guild hall will make your PSP symbol turn on in the room, showing you're waiting for others to join you. There isn't anything special that has to be done, just wait for others to go into the online guild hall and you'll see them.

Anyhow, if you have a PSP, PS3, and MHF2 and want help or want to kick some dragon/wyvern butt, drop me a line. Also, you can use Ad-hoc party for a lot more than just MHF2. I see people playing PSO, Tekken, and even Dynasty Warriors on the english lobby all the time.

Edit--
Doh, totally forgot. If you have a psp and a ps3 but no MHF2, you can download the Unite demo from the PSP store. It works on ad-hoc party (and the english version of Ad-hoc party should come out with it soon too). If you've never played a MH game before, this is a great way to fiddle around with everything. It's really a great franchise if you've never played it before.

Heh, the ad-hoc program really is a blast. Harkens back to the first one back on PS2, though it would be nicer if it was on the tv screen instead~

At any rate, I'll probably be trying to get a ps3 of my own before 3 comes out just so i can do more of the online stuff :V
