Also, though I never use the system myself, I do see the benefits of using the ">" quote method and agree with the others that it is not a problem. Using it to make spammy troll posts, however, is.

Yeah, the troll ratings, I can live without. It always seemed pointless to rate a troll post, since you're just giving them attention.

And I guess I can see where using ">" to point out certain parts of a quote can be useful, but then only replying with images or text versions of image filenames is just plain dumb. At least explain why you like/don't like those bits, sheesh.

Rating 10/10 and stuff should be removed. But that doesn't mean we can't rate other things, like stuff in the art board. Or is that not what you meant?

And TBH I've seen too much trolling lately... even in the CCC I think it should be way more regulated than it is. You made the CCC so it wasn't the PPP, but at this point I think we've returned to the level of PPP.

Don't worry, this only concerns troll ratings, not all ratings in general.

missing the point.

there's an obvious difference between someone using it to troll, and using it to contribute to discussions. that's what you should be cracking down on, not the entire usage of it.

language is what we as text-based forum discussion participants use to convey various feelings, emotions, ideas, concepts, etc. etc.

you might consider something stupid because you don't understand what the writer was trying to say. you might even ban someone for it (sound familiar?)

that's not unreasonable, either. lots of folks try to say what they mean, but end up really mangling it and it's no wonder that nobody else "gets it"

when you pass your own opinions as law in a decision just like this one (and just like previous ones, both written and un-written), you are cutting off and limiting an already limited medium of communication (written word)

just look at all this "what is art" discussion in the forums. just because you don't like something (a post by a member) doesn't mean it isn't art (something with a message)
