I say JudgeSpear should switch the entire MKFusion project to GM8 when it's released, mainly because of the faster loading times and because of the bug fixes. This looks great!

@OniLink: It should have backwards compatibility, but if not it would take forever to do cuz 1 year+ of progress would need to be recoded. It would be nice, though.

Exactly. If it's NOT backwards-compatible, then it'll still be worth it to copy+paste and possibly rewrite some codes/remove some code due to new features and bug-fixes.

I'm diggin' everything about this. Especially how sub-images can have different masks, the new timeline functions, and the new script editor.
This should look good.

Never used GM6, but this sounds like GM6 but with better features.

Or GM7 with good features.

I'm switching.

Wow. I wasn't aware that some of Game Maker's features were lacking in contrast to Clickteam products. This isn't a GM VS MMF2 post intending to spark a debate (especially when GM's script and coding actually intrigues me and tempts me more than Clickteam's and the amount of good games made with GM), but some observations I've noticed:

- PNG/alpha transparency/Image editor
MMF2 has had this for a while now, and with real-time use of it. I thought GM had this before, especially with some of the games I've seen, or was that a use of a plugin?

- Splash screens that show web sites and html documents
MMF and MMF2 have had this for a while. Although I find it useless anyways, but would this include the loading screen GM games have?

if it does it'd at least be faster than the slow-ass one gm already has

The thing is, sprites could have a transparent background, but it always used the colour of the bottom-left pixel of the sprite, meaning that if this pixel were white, then all white pixels on the sprite would be transparent.

Example of when this sucks: SMW Bullet Bill facing right.

Still, if they've fixed that then I'm upgrading as soon as I get a chance to.

The Trigger Effect feature looks like the only one that will be useful in the update. It's like a step event, but less redundant in my opinion.

I'm sticking with GM7 Pro, because it is the only version I was able to crack.

also the faster loading time does sound great, maybe even worth buying

You guys seem to be mixing up alpha and threshold transparency. GIF uses threshold transparency, which is 0% or 100%. Game Maker used this too, but it was always the bottom left corner. Which means, things like \ slopes had to be 16x17 with a row of blank pixels on the bottom. That sucked. Normal GIFs just have transparency as a different color.

PNG, on the other hand, has an alpha value for each pixel. This is the amount of transparency the pixel is. PNGs also have an optional value for background color which will be used instead of transparency if transparency is not supported (for stupid programs like IE and PAINt, although IDK if 7 added transparency to paint).

Game Maker will now support alpha, which means no more bottom left pixel transparency; it means that you will be able to set each pixel's transparency value.

Now, I've never used MMF, but I don't think it supports this (unless it just does and I've never seen it before).

both ways work; all click products afaik allow using a custom color as a threshold transparent color, and mmf2 has natively supported alpha channels ever since it was released (mmf1.5 also supported them, but through an extension)
