The Mario 500 version 1.051

I kind of got lazy at the end with the presentation, but I just wanted it done. I realize I shouldn't worry about finishing a game two weeks early, but I tend to lose interest in games after a while. I'll probably update it eventually with a slightly better presentation.

Go on a cross-Kingdom time trial with Mario as fast as possible, but watch out! If your bike overheats, it can cost you too much time to recover.

Left click/Shift: Accelerate (tap to use)/Rev bike on startup/Start game
Right click/Ctrl: Jump
Middle click/Enter: Shoot boulder

...So yeah, comments and criticism appreciated.

Glitchy as hell. You sometimes you don't respawn right away and sometimes you fall right back into a pit after respawning. Controls could work better if you used right mouse button to jump.

Kudos for interesting concept.

I'd have to agree with this entire post.

I personally think the game moves too quickly, the player barely has any time to acknowledge the jump pads before falling in the pits... and respawning in pits three more times.

The controls are awkward. I'd consider left click to accelerate and right click to jump (or shift), as well as middle click (or control) for boulders.

If you're looking to be confused, make word filters changing all vowels to a certain letter (I suggest to a vowel), all for read-only, and loose. For example, with all vowels turned to "i"...

I know about the glitches and meant to get around to fixing them. Those'll come soon.

And I know the controls are awkward, but I had a hard time deciding on them. I'll probably go ahead and change them too.

I will say, though, that I think it's hillarious that a time trial game moves too fast. It's always an option to start slowly until you've memorized the track.

Edit: New version uploaded, addresses everything in this post. Download link same as above.

The screenshot itself says that it's not going to be interesting in gameplay either, I'm afraid. Nice try though.

And number two, if you included other Mario participants as playable characters, this would have a lot more potential. wink.gif

Wait, so did you actually play it, or are you criticizing something that you haven't even tried?
