no, i think that kitsune means that certain keyboards can't register certain key combinations
|
Fortunately there's this brand new invention someone made. It's so new that it's no wonder Kitsune never heard of it. It's called joypad. *gasp* If you want to know more about this miraculous thing, you might find some info somewhere on the net if you search hard enough. |
Again with the sarcasm, huh Toni? See, I didn't use button combinations like Fire 1, Fire 2, etc for the game. I actually used Shift, CTRL, SPACE, and whatnot, the actual keyboard buttons. Besides, I'm not even aware of any extensions for MMF that allow you to have more than two trigger buttons for your game, so until I find one, or one is made, RFF is a single-player game with that exact button setup. Besides, the way I have the controls set up, you'd have to play all over the keyboard. And then making Player 2-controlled characters would mean making entirely new active objects for the game, thus hiking up the filesize a good bit. Now see, if you people really want multiplayer in this, I'd like to see some actual help (finding extensions, help build an effective 2-Player, nine button engine if all else fails) rather than the relentless waves of complaints and sarcasm I've been getting, especially from you, Toni. Come on, people. I'm only one man here.

Well, there are plug-ins that allow for multiple buttons beyond directions, 1 and 2. However, it depends on your click program whether they've made a plug-in or not.
Also, you could active button combinations in other ways, such as holding one button and using a direction rather than just the button itself.
But, as I figure, you have a pretty solid engine, so if you players could just use joy-to-key to allow joysticks for themselves.
...
Anywho, the multi-player thing is probably alot more desired among kids who have siblings, since that's usually who we play with all the time =O

Actually, the comment about the oh so new invention was meant to be more of a joke. I seem to be pretty bad at this. And you probably also failed to notice that I don't belong to the people that demand a 2 player mode. Anyway, I believe that I've once seen an extension for this *included* in MMF. It's actually an extension to support analog joysticks, but it can also handle up to 4 fire buttons. I have to admit that I've never tried it myself for lack of a joystick/pad/whatever, but if you were going to include a multiplayer mode, this extension might be the way to go. If you don't want to however (or if the extension doesn't work the way I think it's supposed to) that's a different matter. I don't care either way. And it's not my fault if you can't distinguish between a suggestion and sarcasm, so right back to you.

No, I caught the suggestion alright. But the joke/sarcasm... I throw a right back at you! Anyway...Where'd you see this extension? If I could at least get hold of it, I could then program the game to be more joystick-friendly, even if I can't or don't put a multiplayer in.
