Since you are having The Outlaws in the game, you should have Green Grass and High Tides as the hardest song.

I'mactually using their cover of Ghost Riders In The Sky, but I'll probably release a track pack after finishing the game containing the song

demo up, I'd put this as version 0.5 beta, do not be too critical because it is still a WIP and theres bound to be flaws, also included is the 0.6 Track Creation Program for making your own note charts

http://www.sendspace.com/file/2uogcj

The Demo

okay, first off, you must extract the zip file, after that, you must add your own MP3s to the music folder, as I don't want to be busted for distribution of copyrighted material, the MP3s you must add* are "My front porch looking in" by Lonestar, "Honkytonk BaDonkadonk(SP?)" by Trace Adkins and "Johnny B. Goode" by Buck Owens... then run the game after the "title screen" a dialog box pops up, open the notecharts folder and pick your chart, I'm not gonna lie these notecharts are beta, so they aren't the best quality, then the game starts, a,s,d,f,g are your keys, up and down strum, and space bar uses star power, after playing you song you have to close and reopen the program, as I can't seem to get the game to clear the timelines right cool.gif

the track creator!!!

now about the track creator, it is open source, so you need GM6 pro to run it, upon running a dialog box opens asking for a MP3, give it one, it will then ask if you want to load a previous note chart, decline it, the track creator will then begin, it is programmed to loop 5% of the song over and over while you put in notes by using either the a,s,d,f,g keys or by left clicking the mouse, hitting left or right changes which 5% of the song is played, pressing alt will toggle the looping feature on and off making the program play the whole song, pressing p pauses the program, ctrl will make the program jump to the beggining of the current 5% block, pressing space toggels star power mode which lets you put in star notes, pressing q creates a save file to resume your work at a later date, pressing o dumps the notes into 5 different notecharts, to make a note longer then one beat click on it and drag it, or before you create it hold down space and then press a,s,d,f or g, to delete a note, click it with the right mouse button, I think that is everything, let me know what you think cool.gif

EDIT: the track creator's room_width is a very important varible, as it determines how fast and how many notes can go in a song, the default works very well for a song about 2 minutes, if you want it to be longer or shorter, open up the room and change the width,

EDIT2: the track creators a pain in the butt to use, but it's currently the only way to add tracks to the game, I'll work on reducing said butt-pain in future releases if you'll bear with me, but it does get the job done

if someone would like to help make graphics, or SFX, or upload your own notecharts, I would appreciate it, because right now the graphics are all eyesores and the steel guitar song start riff sucks,

*you don't need all three mp3s, just the ones you plan to use, the game can actually run without them but there is no audio if you do that cool.gif

I was actually making a Guitar Hero Fangame too, though mine isn't doing so well.

As far as this goes, this is pretty good, actually. The graphics could use some improvement, however. Still, awesome.

BTW, don't use a song with a qoutation mark in the filename, it makes the string read fail, just change the file name ex: lookin' change to looking

Cool. But would it hurt to use some grammar?

Is that even relevant to the topic at all?

On topic, the notes in the track creator shouldn't snap to the line. They should be free.

I seem to be hitting two notes at a time when they both overlap the color thing.

Run that by me again, I'm not sure what you're asking... in the track creator or actual game?

guitar hero only has 5 notes, if they didn't snap to a line there would be notes between notes, impossible to play nope.gif

When I'm playing the actual game, and I hit a note while another one is coming up closely behind it, both of them disappear even though it should really only be the first one.

that will be fixed in the next demo, as far as I can tell it's a collision box error

There are supposed to be notes in between notes. Mostly for fast songs.

you mean quick succession, the track creator is still in beta stages, just because you can't do stuff now doesn't mean you won't be able to eventually

new vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_5Ua9LJ0Sc

very first southern rock song to be put in the game, it's "Home Is Where The Heart Is" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I apologize that the video is not very good quality, I promise to upload a better one in the near future,

this video also shows updated graphics, new guitar texture, guitar buttons are more rounded and smooth looking, and they have a really cool star power effect to, the note sparks actually look like fire instead of a red orange blur, but you probably won't appreciate this until I get a better video up cool.gif

double bump, I'm pleased to annonce the engine and graphics are 90% done, all thats really left to do is add all of the songs, I still have signifigant work to do on the track creator, it works, but it is not user friendly, it's what I use to make tracks, cause it's the only way to do so

QUOTE (Mario Gamer @ Aug 26 2009, 10:34 PM)
This is why Rock Band is better then Guitar Hero. Well...one of the reasons.

it is a huge waste of money to buy a game that is 99% rock and 1% country (at most) if you're a person like me who like country 99% more than rock... thats the whole reaon I'm making this game, cause what is avalible to be bought does is not marketed to people like me, if they do make a country band game that is 99% country and 1% rock, I will can this cool.gif
