Try (atleast) to recolor something.
To make it fit better.

Example: You castle background is very grey red and the castle tiles are very grey blue. (low sat, but there's sat)
These won't fit and look horrible.
Open both with photoshop and adjust the hue to make them the same, or
decrease the sat to 0 on both.
Another problem would be the shading style.
NSMB ultra-3d tiles plus SNES castle background, cartoony, dithered = won't fit.
Try to make everything fit, or this won't be a game, just a fluently animated game idea that looks a bit like an actual game, plus cool effects.

Forget it, some people (who don't care about graphics) will always vote for you.

the contrast is an intentional added effect to fit a desired style

hence why the shadow transition is so direct

That's actually a rad effect which I didn't respond to.

It's actually the only thing that makes the styles fit a bit at the moment, so keep it.

Wait, so is it supposed to take place completely inside the castle or outside too?

Cause I'm making mine inside, but you view the whole castle at all times. (You don't see the ground of course)

First of all, I love how creative people are being with this concept (enough so that the rules have become confusing), second of all... I don't see why that wouldn't be acceptable, but...

I didn't start this comp, and I'm still not clear on the limitations of the rules.

Just as a note to people who haven't thought of an idea - you don;t have to be attacking or defending a castle, think of all the many other things that can/have been done in castles.

How long until it ends?

Anyway, after developing a sudden obsession with the Phoenix Wright series, and thus, leaving the Mario fangame scene for a while, I've returned to enter:

BreakDown

My first game that I've actually released. Plot and controls ingame, press F1.

I know I have no chance of winning, I'm just entering for laughs.
