seems like a dumb idea imo,
it only means someone's gonna have to ask "WHAT HAPPENED TO X? WERE CAN I READ ORIGINAL POST?"

if it's really a problem that people link to a topic that's been locked and try to debate it,
warn them. if they honestly do it again, ban them.
Mods should be here to put out fires, not hide the matches.

if the point was to make an example out of what they did, well, uhh...

and yeah, what happened to linking to offending posts in the warnlog/banlog. That was a good idea, and showed people what you could get in trouble for. Just sticking with "it's in the rules" isn't that great for the reason's SP posted.

Well Tri's example and the vague ban log for zash and co led those of us to believe that it was. Not that that matters.

A warn system might be good for shaking off accusations of bias.

It's worth trying out, I guess. Worst case scenario is that it doesn't work out and you can go back to the ban system.

Warn system was stupid. People got away with 2 major infractions with just a slap on the wrist.

Well with the old warning system, instant bans were handed out in extreme cases despite how many chances you had left. The "security" for the board's sake would still be there.

Everyone's just sick of all the things that cause problems, and it's a lot of the memberbase that needs to straighten up.

If there's a serious problem it can be addressed. But for the most part people need to stop abusing this place.

well yeah, people shouldn't be allowed to get away with like posting rom sites or pornography or a massive flame fest sort post or that sort of thing

I think that idea died when Jeff went inactive.

or, say, someone like me who's missed the entire thing- I am now in the dark and have to rely on hearsay to understand the issue- which I can't, because I can't see what happened

thus, I have no say in what I think of the issue
