So are you saying that a bunch of minor bans acrued over time should automatically score you a permaban and severe offenses should be punished lightly, because it's someone's first offense?

no, severe offenses should be punished severely, even if it's someone's first offense

the last chance was the ability to work well with what the members wanted - a warning that their next slip-up would be their last if they didn't shape up, rather than a sudden "you're permabanned" without warning - which occurred before the system was created, and caused a lot of disruption with the members

If they want this to place to be more serious, they're going to have to call it something like "Public Forum for Well-Thought-Out Discussion of Current affairs" rather than "Mario Fangame Galaxy".

I don't see what joke posts and spam have to do with Mario fan games.

To be completely honest, I don't understand the difference between the GC and CCC if the CCC threads aren't supposed to be pointless.

I mean the description for the GC is

General Chat
The general forum. As long as you keep it clean and sane, you may discuss ANYTHING here (that isn't covered by other forums), and if you're new, introduce yourself in here too!

What about that isn't casual?

Are we supposed to use letterheads and end each post with "Sincerely, " or something?

The way you're explaining it right now, they sound like the exact same forum with different names.

But certain rules make no sense there. The CCC is a relaxed place, where people go to just have fun. Banning something like reaction images, especially in a topic where numerous people were having a good time at nobody elses expense... I just don't understand that.

I mean, if you mod that the place the same way you mod every other board, it would turn into a copy of the GC.

page'd

also, i just want to something else out

the fact that we have any drama at all is just showing how the system isnt working

because if the majority of the members are unhappy, it's probably not their fault

By the way, how are we supposed to know how to have fun and be casual without spamming if a lot of things people do on the internet to have fun and be casual are what you're banning for?

The fact that they're all childish.

This is a childish message board for childish people, meant for discussing children's video games.

Both of your points are moot as this forum has never been on the topic of either children's video games, Mario in general, or creating fangames. :P

The CCC is a confusing forum.

Allow me to explain why.

When the CCC was first created by Jas, I, and a number of the rest of the mod team (although if I recall correctly, I headed most of it, but that's besides the point), we treated it as a PPP replacement - only it was to be a more strict PPP so it would still have the fun, without the bull**** that the PPP caused.

At that time, the GC was meant to be a serious forum, containing essentially news topics and game topics and other such serious discussion.

Ever since then, rules have changed, and the view of the forums have changed - the GC description changed to say "you can discuss anything in here" to get rid of the "MFGG IS SERIOUS BUSINESS >:(" reputation it had, and the CCC became more lenient.

Hence why the CCC is a confusing forum - if I had my say, I'd say destroy the monstrosity.

Anyways, just an explanation for why it's difficult to now discern what the CCC actually is.

no disagreement here

but hey, it would be great if it went back on topic, because uhh, none of these problems seem to be in any of the topical boards!

Well yeah, if you want to split hairs.

But I'm saying this isn't a mature forum about current affairs and the latest business trends.

It's a gaming forum. The only people who play games are kids (10%) and childish teenagers/adults (90%).

The CCC has more of a feeling to be less-orientated around being sincere and sane, but keep also rules intact without having everything all spam-like. I'm no pro at this.

I honestly think that members shouldn't be punished for mistaking the purpose of the CCC forum if not all of the moderators and none of the members are even sure of its purpose, don't you agree Yoshiman?

That basically makes sense.

In my opinion, if it meant the threads that are going in the CCC now (except for stupid ones like reaction images) would go in the GC instead, then I'd be all for removing it.

Seriously, everyone would agree that the golden age of MFGG was from the beginning all the way 2006, all of which contained some form of the PPP.

We never had this much drama until the PPP was destroyed.

yes we did
there's always been some sort of drama here, maybe you didn't see it or care about it, but it's been around

I don't mind the PPP being around, the CCC is a dumb board though, would rather just have the GC- CCC just leads to confusion, trouble, drama, blah blah blah. vague purpose boards aren't cool.
