I'm sorry. I don't have the time to read through the last 10 pages of posts (I got to page 9, but I realized that I have to get ready to leave soon).
I don't post here much, but I do lurk the boards and toss a post in here or there, every so often. I noticed a theme that was tossed around toward the beginning of the topic:
The mods "don't know what the members want."
Keep in mind that these same mods are complaining that the "members whine too much."
An idea: Rather than looking at everything the members do, in reaction to the staff, as whining and then chastising them for it, try looking at it more as constructive criticism (that may not be so constructive) and learn what the members want from those posts.
I know you'll never make everyone happy, and a lot of stuff falls to common sense, but making general rules, such as these, isn't any fun for anyone, members, mods, admins, whatever. It confuses members and gives mods/admins a headache when they finally act on them.
tl;dr - Maybe the members are trying to get their points across through the whining and it should be recognized as such, rather than something to chastise and beat down.

| QUOTE (Retriever II @ Jul 25 2009, 12:11 AM) | | One of the reasons we will never be able to make members happy is because the members are not a homogeneous group. Not even close. Everyone has their own idea about what they want from this forum, ranging from a pure fan gaming extension of the main site to 4chan lite. |
i want a hotdog machine :(
