I come and post here for my own personal enjoyment, not to paint some picture for new folks. I'm not a salesman (and no one else should be, either).

Or that what is going to happen will happen, that's it.

that does not apply to this topic

it takes more than a size 23 command to change the actions of people, especially on the internet where a lot of them dgaf and do whatever they want(which you should already know)

I love the fact that there is 2 groups.

And both of them don't want to listen to the other ideas of the group and just nudge it off.

Except one of the group dominates the other one.

yeah, we all blabber on-and-on-and-on-and-on ("zomg i leave for ten minutes and 14 pages wtf"), but the real productive results come around when folks learn to

I agree, I mean if the moderators/admins say that they want to do something good for the forums. Then why not listen to the members ideas and actually communicate and agree on some of them or change it up a little bit.
Same goes for the members also, the moderators are trying to help the forums and trying to make it better so it would be better to actually listen and give there ideas a shot also.

Its basically like a group of people working on a sprite.
Everyone can edit it and try to make it better. There is no one that is taking over this sprite and changing it into another shape and form. Because everyone is trying to make it a better sprite than before. But there is also time to realize the sprite isn't looking as good as before and should stay in its last and best form.

I'm sorry. I don't have the time to read through the last 10 pages of posts (I got to page 9, but I realized that I have to get ready to leave soon).

I don't post here much, but I do lurk the boards and toss a post in here or there, every so often. I noticed a theme that was tossed around toward the beginning of the topic:

The mods "don't know what the members want."

Keep in mind that these same mods are complaining that the "members whine too much."

An idea: Rather than looking at everything the members do, in reaction to the staff, as whining and then chastising them for it, try looking at it more as constructive criticism (that may not be so constructive) and learn what the members want from those posts.

I know you'll never make everyone happy, and a lot of stuff falls to common sense, but making general rules, such as these, isn't any fun for anyone, members, mods, admins, whatever. It confuses members and gives mods/admins a headache when they finally act on them.

tl;dr - Maybe the members are trying to get their points across through the whining and it should be recognized as such, rather than something to chastise and beat down.

Chippermonkey you are now my favorite poster.

I totally agree with all your points! Flamedragon also had a nice point with the "group of people working on a sprite."

If the staff and the members work together as a whole, then the forum could be much better! I mod at tSR and when things got to the point of the forum being raided because of the staff and their decisions, we CHANGED things so that we could make our members happy and still keep order. There has to be a certain balance between the staff and the members, and, even though you can't make everyone happy, what you do SHOULD be in everyone's general interest. A good mod is someone who can see from both sides- the members and the staff- that way, no one's views are left out.

I dunno. That's just my opinion.

This really just doesn't happen on MFGG though.

Whenever the admins don't do enough, people complain.

Mods and admins have quit because of this.

I just wish everyone would stop making a fuss over every little thing.

Below are 3 easy steps to making mfgg less awful

1) Don't delete a post unless it actually violates the rules. Deleting a post because you personally see it as spam is a blatant abuse of power

2) Lift the bans on troll ratings and reaction images. They didn't hurt anybody, and banning for something that you are personally annoyed by is, again, an abuse of power

3) Stop blowing off our suggestions and listen for ****'s sake. MFGG doesn't belong to anybody, and the opinions of the users should count just as much as the opinions of the admins/mods.

You all keep trying to change mfgg for the better, but you're just making it worse and worse. Something tells me it's time to let the members vote on new rules and guidelines, because the admins are doing a ****-tier job at it

tl;dr mfggmocracy pls

rii owns the server, and can, as such, revoke any decision made by the mod team at any time.

mfgg isn't a democracy.

New plan:

RII, phage, and yoshiman should be the supreme overlords of mfgg

I don't know why, but I think that'd work really well for some reason

and making pointless accusations isn't helping any of the matters at hand at all

One of the reasons we will never be able to make members happy is because the members are not a homogeneous group. Not even close. Everyone has their own idea about what they want from this forum, ranging from a pure fan gaming extension of the main site to 4chan lite.

I propose every mod and admin has a SMILY FACE in their avatar, so that we can spread some smiles and luvs around the board with every post.

How can you argue with such a happy face?
