QUOTE (Kritter @ Jul 24 2009, 11:15 PM)
I propose every mod and admin has a SMILY FACE in their avatar, so that we can spread some smiles and luvs around the board with every post.

How can you argue with such a happy face?

Behold! I feel better already.

I doubt this would last even a second.

One of the reasons we will never be able to make members happy is because the members are not a homogeneous group. Not even close. Everyone has their own idea about what they want from this forum, ranging from a pure fan gaming extension of the main site to 4chan lite.

Isn't it just a minority opinion that sparks up the majority opinion to agree with them anyway

I'm not exactly certain that a forum "democracy," per se, would work right, especially with such a large member base, but I'd sure as heck be willing to give it a try.

Either that, or simply having this happen: Staff makes a REFINED list of what they expect, fully defining what spam is, trolling is, flaming is, etc (so no "you can't spam, that's it" rules). The members, in turn, come together and make their own list of what they think would be the best rules (voting on what rules should stay/leave, in a sort of "proposal" and "support" fashion to decide what rules are even voted on). From there it's a simple matter of seeing where the staff and the members see eye-to-eye, then justifying the rules that they don't.

Ultimately, it's a good way to see what the members want, while at the same time allowing the members to see what the staff expects. In the end, the decision comes down to what the staff want, as they're the ones who do run this place, but at least then you'll have some understanding of what each group expects, rather than a constant back and forth, unhappiness, and such.

EDIT: Looking at this post, I'm not entirely sure what I said would work, either, given the member base. :/

i say we shape MFGG into the view of only one member

and that member is Xgoff

that will either make it the best fangame forum or the most doomed place on the face of the internet

1) Don't delete a post unless it actually violates the rules. Deleting a post because you personally see it as spam is a blatant abuse of power

Unless it's annoying and in the way, then it should be considered.

QUOTE
2) Lift the bans on troll ratings and reaction images. They didn't hurt anybody, and banning for something that you are personally annoyed by is, again, an abuse of power

They ruin MFGG's image and are mostly used annoyingly. Warns will only happen if they're used negatively.

QUOTE
3) Stop blowing off our suggestions and listen for ****'s sake. MFGG doesn't belong to anybody, and the opinions of the users should count just as much as the opinions of the admins/mods.

Didn't we do that with the Quackers Test? Where everyone PM'd their concerns and things were done about it?

Well then, I can't help you there. If you think MFGG is that stupid, then I don't know why you'd even come here.

It's not just MFGGers, it's people in general.

I don't really feel like reading another 20-page topic (already got enough of that from other forums' drama that's going on now); can someone please summarize everything for me? I'm guessing it's just forumers *****ing as usual, right?

This sort of an attitude is not a progressive attitude. It's highly detrimental to the growth of the forum.

QQ we want reaction images.
QQ we want troll ratings.
QQ you banned my bff.
QQ the mods aren't fair.

I think that basically sums up most of the tears.
