Hello you all. I won't bother with any intros on myself for the newer kids here and go straight to talking about these comics. Shortly before my unannounced break from this place a couple months back I posted a few comics of mine. Since then I have continued to make a new one each week or so. These is what I've made so far. Uncle Specks' Lab http://123james.deviantart.com/art/Comic-U...s-Lab-119405199| QUOTE | I can't think of anything to say here besides how I plan on having the professor be a regular in the Casual Traveler story book.
Oh and I hope I drew the wrinkles on his face in a way that's actually possible for one to have them. |
| QUOTE | When I first got my job at that assembly place where "special" people can work, I was first disturbed after this stout girl introduced me to some friend of hers and she added "HE'S SO HANDSOME!" to her intro for me. A few days later while I was eating lunch some girl (who I think has cerebral palsy) sat next to me and asked me "have you ever had a girl friend". I said no. She then added "do you want one?"
Then I got the idea for this comic. Jake was originally going to say something like "well I know no girl would actually fall in love with someone like YOU..." in the second panel but I changed it at the last minute with something better. |
| QUOTE | This comic kind of goes with the last one I posted though they can be read in any order and still make since.
Occasionally when I buy something from the vending machine I fear something like this will happen.
My sister told me that girl reminds her of one of the stop motion puppets Tim Burton would come up with. We both came to the conclusion that was because of her eyes. And this was before I gave her color. I wonder what she'll think of her now.
I haven't thought of a name for the girl yet. edit: I'm thinking Ruby, maybe? |
| QUOTE | Why did I spend nine hours working on this?
Why did it take me a whole nine hours to make?
I'm all twitchy now.
The idea spawned from a letter my sister got from "her mom" on Animal Crossing a while ago. It ended with "WE WANT GRAND KIDS!"
Later I thought about what would be an over the top thing for a mom to do when they want grand kids and this idea came up. |
| QUOTE | couple weeks ago I IMed Sponge on skype and was greeted by his mother who told me he was spending the night at a friend's place. I then thought it was awfully nice of her to note me like that. I'd never have thought a mom would do something like that for their kid. Then I realized how embarrassing this would probably be if I made such a big deal about it (like buck naked baby pictures embarrassing). Then an idea of what would make this situation even funnier came to mind. I made it into a comic.
Coincidentally, Sponge's real first name is Jacob.
Also I love how Jake turned out in the last pannel. |
| QUOTE | | This comic is the first to introduce Samantha. Another neighbor of Brandon's and a good friend of Tammy's. She's basically a girl version of Brandon who has a slight interest in art. |
| QUOTE | A comic that features the antagonists of my recent Trouble at the Mall book?! Their line art is better here than in the book though...
No, this wasn't intended to be an add for the book or anything. When I thought of the joke I just thought they would be the best suited for it.
It's a new spin on a joke portrayed in The Muppet Movie. |
| QUOTE | This comic took longer to make with its completely different backgrounds and character drawings in all three panels.
Hopefully the joke was worth it... |
| QUOTE | Brandon may seem like another Charlie Brown next to Jake most of the time but at least he has SOME wit for times like this.
I get the sinking feeling that this joke has already been done without me knowing... |
| QUOTE | I'm beginning to fear Jake is starting to show signs of what I like to call "Strong Bad Syndrome" where he begins to get more attention in the show than the star because it's easier to come up with stuff for a jerk to do.
Well at least I didn't name the series Brandon and Friends or something.
I still don't want Brandon to be left in the dust. Only time will tell if this resolves itself. |
| QUOTE | | This is the first time I've made photo shop renderings of my persona (or Joseph as he'll be called in my work) in a while. How do you like the new turtle neck shirt thing I gave him? I think someone else drew him like that in an art chat a while ago and I liked how it looked. |
| QUOTE | My first comic featuring the Miracle Academy characters in a while.
I love how the convenience store in the background of the last panel turned out, especially the neon light. Extra points go to whoever recognised the Soda Logo from an earlier comic without my pointing it out. |
| QUOTE | I like how the lighting through the comic turned out. And Brandon's expression in the 2nd panel (though it's hard to tell if he's actually making eye contact to Tylor or not).
Another thing bothering me is that when I was about halfway through making this one the punchline began to feel more predictable to me... Ah well.
Happy late Independence Day! |
| QUOTE | | While I'm at work or collage or whatever I usually don't acknowledge people by their names. One day at work one of the girls I talked about in a previous comic said hi to me. After I gave the standard "Hi." back she was all "I have a name you know!" as if it was a big deal. I didn't actually call her by her name afterword though. Later on I thought of this comic. |
| QUOTE | Semi-based on true events (unless I misheard my mother).
I'm not too upset. I mean I'm happy with just a house, food, Wii, DS, and an internet connection at the monent. We have TV too but I barely watch that anymore unless the family's watching some reality game shows.
Because of that, instead of "aw man! we could have got a..." going through my head I thought what Jake says here.
But mom does say the bills pile up often... |
If I make any more comics after this I'll just post them in this topic too. Well, unless this topic stays unupdated and goes back like 20 pages in the topic list or something but even then I might still just bump this if I remember I made it.
