So basically, I'm trying to create a demo version of my game that will fit the 15 MB upload limit for MFGG. Problem is, I initially used some honkin' huge audio files for the sound effects that have increased the filesize exponentially. First of all, how can I remove these files from the sound effect "archive" in the Event Editor (so that they don't continue to hold the filesize higher), and second of all, is there a way to get MP3-quality music compressed so that I can play it in-game but not blow the lid off the upload limit?

Thanks in advance! ; )

to get them out of the "archive", just remove or change all events/object settings that reference them, save, and close/reopen the .mfa

also mmf2 has native support for ogg vorbis which has similar or better compression than mp3, so try converting any and all wav sounds to those

in fact, if you go into the data elements editor you should be able to replace the wavs with the oggs and mmf2 will automatically replace all the wav references and remove them from the app (one you save and reopen, of course)

Awesome! Thanks a million.
I'm a dunce, though... I should have thought of this in the first place.
Lol. *gets to tinkering with fifteen levels-worth of sound effects*

You know what, though? .ogg music files are still pretty frigging big. Okay, 1 MB for a music file isn't huge, but it's enough to carry my filesize over the limit.

how long are the songs? I advise finding looping points so that they'll stay around 40~60 seconds. nearly all my songs were around 100~200 kb. also making the samplerate 22050 hz at 64kps helps aswell.

Songs are just a minute long, I had already cut 'em down to size.

I changed the samplerate to 22050 and the songs are 600 KB now.
What's this "64 kps" stuff? Is that part of the samplerate, or something separate?

yeah it's seperate.

22050 is the sample frequency
64 is the bitrate. the lower it is, the smaller the filesize, but also smaller quality in sound.

also, you can use Audacity to cut large songs.

I have Audacity, but I can't seem to find the option to change the bitrate. Wow I'm a noob lol. xD

Thanks for all the help so far btw

if you're using version 1.2, then it should be:

preferences --> file formats --> ogg export setup

ogg quality 0 is probably 64 kps. hope that helps.
