Sprite comp #167, -vault this-

Congrats to Wiwa (#2) and the runner ups. Awesome entrys!

It took some time to decide a new theme for this competition.

I came across these SMG beta characters and decided that they would be a better theme than bosses (again).
EDIT: HUGE thanks to Girrrtacos for the rips!
Beta means that they've been dropped from the actual game, but they were still on the disc.
Only the japanese names are known so you can make up your own.
You can also make up what powers they have, how the walk, attack and interact with Mario.

The rules are:
-You can sprite one (or more) characters on this sheet
-Use a good size, keep it useful
-Don't use way too many colors, once again for usage
-Make at least one animation of something (walking, attacking etc.)
-Be creative
-Oh, and have fun.
If you hate this idea don't enter, ok?

Top 5 voting begins on August 14th, whenever it's daytime in my timezone.

Oh there is gonna be a chance i'm gonna join this compo.

That throwiki thing looks oh so tempting to sprite.

Shouldn't Sprite comps be in the Arts Board..? It IS artwork, after all.

The monkey is from DK: Jungle beat and the bullies are from SM64
so really the blob things the only real new thing lol

People who voted me just have a bad taste. They just look how many colors there are and if there is enough dithering.
I by myself don't like it, doesn't look like a mockup.

Still, they haven't been a comp theme before.

BTW: your entry deserved to win, it was very detailed and the dithering looked awesome.

I like it but he's reeeaaaallly tiny.

I tried to make it SPP style, so that's probably why it looks small

This character has never been in the game, so you can't really predict his size.

Maybe he was supposed to be tiny, maybe he was going to be a giant boss.

Just mentioning. You can sprite these anyhow.

I think I shall enter this once I think of a good way to sprite them.
