The movie came out on Jan. 24th. It's an older article, but it's extremely valid. Before the movie was released, the team had a summit about the movie, saying there's a lot of ways a sequel could work out (The most well received was another camera recording from someone else taken the same night), and if the movie does well they'll definitely make another one.

It didn't necessarily "do well", but it made enough money to meet the top box office for opening night. Rumors are currently cropping up saying they've finalized a lot of it now.

And no, they are not.

The first one was under wraps until the night it came out. It was like troll 2008 and every movie theater.

So I highly doubt they would want any info to come out yet, and they are having problems finalizing deals with Paramount. But even if Cloverfield doesn't get a sequel (which is unlikely rolleyes.gif ) The director is def. coming out with something new.

The trailer for Cloverfield came out a good bit before the movie, but it was still in need of revision. Cloverfield was the original name of the project, and they went back and changed it because too much information was getting out too early.

The last names they used were Monstrous and Greyshot, but they changed it back to Cloverfield in the end. The name Monstrous actually stuck in some countries.
