How, and why are viruses made?

Or CTRL ALT DELETE and hope that your Task Manager still functions. From there, take a look at your processes, and look for this zone alarm crap in there or something similar. While the processes are closed try downloading the programs they suggested and see if they can get rid of it.

Viruses are made for many reasons:
Trolling you, causing world-wide panic, showing off their programming skills, tricking you into giving them money, etc.
Some people even make viruses to help people! The only well-known virus ever written for Linux was made to help the Kernel developers fix some Security Issues. It was never released to the public, but the source code was given to the Linux Maintainers to help them improve Security in the kernel, and then some moron decided to release a binary of the virus on the web. The new kernel version was released later that day with fixes to prevent the virus from working.
Viruses can be good and bad!
