Hey there,

I'm working on an engine for a new game for the MGC. For the ones who haven't seen the topic, the theme is castle.

The basic idea is that you are being chased by a giant chain chomp which eats the ground behind you. I've posted this engine for you too test the framerate. This is the first game I had to make with random levels. Since the creation of some parts is a bit CPU heavy, I want to see wether the game is playable at a steady framerate before I continue with other parts of the game.

Could you post whether the framerate was steady enough and perhaps also some more constructive comment wink.gif

lowers down to about 55 for me.

Also, looks great so far - I'd love to see more.

I also think I know what you'll be doing with this...

Pretty cool, framerate was a steady 59-60 fps for me. I really enjoyed how well the engine worked. ^_^

I'm fairly impressed. I hope that you don't turn this into a boring run-from-thing-game, but since it's you I know you'll do something better than that.

Lowest rate I got was 54 on a pretty ****ty comp.

Mostly stays at 58 and occasionally drops to a little above 20, but it's firefox which causes that.

I'd like to note that, by using some of Yoshi's other useless actions like using his tongue and crouching, you can somehow get stuck in walls, or climb up them at a steady speed, usually after hit by Sharky.

FPS was usually 60, but the minimum appeared to be 58- pretty rarely though.

The engine is great besides that one wall glitch.

If you're looking to be confused, make word filters changing all vowels to a certain letter (I suggest to a vowel), all for read-only, and loose. For example, with all vowels turned to "i"...

Wow, pretty sweet! Mine stayed at 60 FPS most of the time and once and a while fell to 59. My only question/concern is why does Sharky slow down sometimes?

Slightly off topic: Is Sharky the Chain Chomp named after Sharky the Shark Dog from Eek the Cat? If so the Yoshi should be purple in honor of Eek! biggrin.gif
