QUOTE (DJ Yoshiman @ Aug 26 2009, 04:03 PM)
a lot more than you think, apparently, if you're still actually expecting it to be completed by the end of August, despite us saying that it will be

especially with a member database this size and a number of mods not existing on the phpBB system that have to be added in from the mods that were installed through-out the existence of the IPB and not even installed from the start

Huh?

What's the size of the member database got to do with it? RII tells me you're not converting the existing member database or taking any steps to add it to phpBB, and I imagine that the deletion of this board database shouldn't take such an excessively long time

Can you explain what you mean by that?

its the correct form of to.........lemme run it down for ya

to is used when your talking about the number. good way to remember this: to has to letters

too is used when your talkin about actions in stuff.

two is used when your talking about places and locations

Also this database is not being deleted. At least for a while. I still have the resources to accommodate this place as an archive.

May I ask, how much does MFGG+Forums take up total? a couple of TB?

RII mentioned many a page back that the forums database is around a gig and a bit. I'd imagine the main site would be quite a bit more, but I wouldn't think TB. Maybe 3-5gb? RII could probably elaborate on this.

And yeah, sorry for the wait folks. We're eager to release it too, but there's still things to discuss and work out before we open the floodgates. Please bear with us!

the database is close to 2GB, but actually uploaded files (like in the Arts board) consume several more GB of their own. So total is closer to 5 or 6.

Seriously, I suggest that the staff does not allow a Hall of Shame topic to be made on the new forum, especially with trying to encourage people to contribute to the site and original purpose of this forum. When submissions are declined, site staff shouldn't be posting them on the boards, especially without the member's permission. I don't care if you find it hilarious. It's unproffessional of staff and elitist to have such a topic.

Members posting links to submissions they consider to be awful is something that should be reserved for the site's report submission feature.

My point in a nutshell is that you shouldn't mock anyone who tries to contribute to the site. If the quality isn't suitable for the site it should between the site staffer and the member uploading. Perhaps from now on members could comment on the main site where the submissions have been accepted and they feel that they are unworthy with some helpful, constructive criticism instead of posting it on the forums where most of the site members don't even read their mocking posts.

Heh, you have a point.

Since there is no CCC (which was a restricted area) anymore, I don't think we'll have such a topic anyway.
So, the HoS themed minigame competition was probably the grande finale of the Hall of Shame ^-^

Instead we might use a hall of glory or something where the best submissions can be showcased.
What says you?

there's a difference between

"this is not good enough to be on MFGG's mainsite"

and

"... what the **** this has got to be a joke or this person shouldn't even be on the internet, never mind MFGG"

I don't see how this justifies anything, especially when what you said in comparison would be flaming anyway.
