well FINALLY, I hate the software this forum uses

Will any new features be added? I know that phbb allows some.

I'm hoping there will be a replacement to the CCC though, because most forums have a place to hang out and just discuss off-topic things and get a few laughs; otherwise the board would be boring. I don't visit boards without such a place except to post here and there, I'm never active, I'd say

But still, looking forward to this. Hurry up and finish >:B

I think that at least the UHH should be kept; that's really an achievement that they deserve to keep.

My two cents for the questions I saw here and remembered until the end:

Q: Why wasn't this announced earlier?
A: We wanted to be sure to have something to present, easy as that. The confidence to know that we can give something to MFGG.
I'm sure you'd not have liked it when we come and promise you a new board and then for some reason the board doesn't come. So we just wanted to be sure that the new board is possible before telling you.
You can probably compare it to game companies not saying "we will make Super Mario Galaxy 2 next week" but instead making the game first at least halfway and then saying: "here it is, and you can already look at it." (which is not the case here, but you can hopefully see where I'm coming from.)

Q: What about the CCC?
A: As far as we are at this point, an off-topic forum will be done. No guarantees, but it's very possible.
Just it needs to be more clear what it is for. It is for relaxing and off-topicness, not for spamming. At least that's what I'd like to see, personally as I fail to see the benefit in a board that's only for spam.

Q: Badges?
A: Some badges can be ported, some can not. Probably competition badges will be ported as you all worked hard to get them, and other badges too.
This has probably to be done manually, so it will take its time and we still need to find a way to organize that.


Other than that, the new board is to my understanding a restart from scratch, which means that AT LEAST all members who are currently registered here will most probably go on the new board with empty warnlogs.
About previously permabanned people I can not say anything at this point, like Techo said. I'd be lying if I said I knew more.

We'd just like members to contribute.
How can you contribute?
- Make fangames? of course!
- Make sprites? of course!
- Make art? of course!
- help making either of these? of course!

- LOOKING at art? sure!
- Not doing anything at all? Well why not.

Just, what we do not like to see is people who come here and try to change the purpose of this board.
Mario Fangames Galaxy IS a fangaming board.
It WAS a fangaming board.
And hopefully it WILL forever be a fangaming board.
If you think that MFGG will change this original purpose, then you did not understand the concept of internet forums.
They are platforms where likeminded people meet, which in this case is everybody who likes fangames, Mario, Nintendo, other video games.


Long message short:
We're not elitist, you do not have to MAKE things. You can just LOOK at things (and possibly comment) and you are also not wrong if you do nothing and just chat with your buddies.
Just if you do not like any of the things this board is for, then do not try to disturb those who like to contribute. It's that simple.

So I can have a free name changed?
Or am I force to have my old name?

I think people like Duckboy and Draco icebane should be given another change.

I personally am praying that if there is an off topic board, it does not have a triple letter name ("QQQ", "FFF", "XXX") because I find this to be a curse and an excuse to treat it like the PPP.

in this case, all the mods/admins should take responsibility for giving everyone their appropriate badges when PM'd (or make more badge mods)
