Sorry about the poor photography skills.

the small piece lit up in bright blue has soaked in laundry detergent for 30 minutes
It was a larger piece, but was snapped in half to show were it had not soaked through.

The whole stick has only just been taken out of its box. (in other words, unaltered)

I plan to use this for black light effect,

I also plan to try soaking chalk in highlighter ink.

Maybe, extract the fuzzy stuff saturated in the highliter ink

Put that "ink pencil" in a pot of water to get the ink from the "ink pencil" to the water in the pot

boil [some] water out of pot to get concentrated solution of highliter ink [???]

distilling 101

I've seen the ink resevoir in a highlighter before. That stuff is impregnated in the "pencil" pretty well. You can't ring it out like a towel. Maybe some kind of press could be employed? Maybe like expeller pressing?

I'm not familiar with the properties of any of the substances you mentioned, but a chemical solvent would probably work the best

well, with me its been "pictures or it didn't happen"

but....yeah....
(the phrase it a bit rude as well)

Anyway, isopropyl alcohol seems to do the trick for extracting highlighter ink.

My fingers are going to glow bright yellow under a black light for awhile.
but it should wash off over time. wink.gif

I expect this will be much faster than the laundry detergent.
