I'll just post my list of games and hope you like my tastes.
VC:
Adventure Island (NES) - It's a bit hard. I recommend the Wii Ware one first so you can get a feel for the series. And in these older ones you die instantly by almost everything, unlike the WiiWare one.
Bubble Bobble (NES) - If the WiiWare version of this came out first, I wouldn't have got this.
Dig Dug (NES) - No real comments, check out some gameplay footage of it on youtube or something. It speaks for itself.
Adventures of Lolo (Both 1 and 2) (NES) - Same as Dig Dug
Kirby's Adventure (NES) - It's a plat former, and it's Kirby. I recommend it.
River City Ransom (NES) - I couldn't get into it but I've heard lots of other people loved it. I suggest you get a second opinion on this one.
Kid Icarus (NES) - Another platformer. But it's really hard. Like, harder than Mega Man
Yoshi (Or Mario and Yoshi in the UK I think) (NES) - It's a sub-par Puzzle Game. I only got it for nostalgic reasons.
Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 (SNES) - Plat formers, a lot of levels have special gimmicks that make them a bit of a chalange.
DoReMi Fantasy (SNES Import Title) - Another Plat former you play ass this kid who's apparently rescuing these fairies or something and you can blow bubbles at your enemies. despite how kiddy it sounds it's level design is very solid and I recommend it.
Super Mario RPG (SNES) - Speaks for itself
Pokemon Puzzle Leauge (N64) - Why haven't they made a Wii version of Puzzle Leauge/Panel De Pon with Wii-Fi yet?

Fantasy Zone (Sega Master System) - A very odd shooter. I only bought it because it was spoofed on the Muppet Babies one time. It's prety cool though. Look it up on youtube.
Sonic 2 (Genesis) - Self explanitory
Toejam and Earl (Genesis) - Hard to explain. Look it up. It's not a platformer though.
Toejam and Earl 2: Panic in Funkotron (Genesis) - This game is a platformer (unlike it's last one)
Ristar (Genesis) - Anotehr good platformer
Dinomite Heady (Genesis) -Platformer
Clayfighter (Genesis) - I prefir the SNES version but it's not in the shop
New Adventure Island (Turbo Grafx) - See my note for the NES version
Bonk 1, 2, and 3 - More good Platformers
Wii Ware:
Dr. Mario Online - It's Dr. Mario and it's online
Tetris Party - It's like Dr. Mario Online, only with Tetris. And this is more variations of the game than Dr. Mario does with it's game.
Bust-A-Move Plus! (or Puzzle Bobble Plus! in the UK)- If you were expecting it to have wi-fi, you're gonna be very disappointed.
Mega Man 9 - Duh!
Bubble Bobble Plus!- A great adaptation of the original arcade game!
Bit Boy - It's okay
Bomberman Blast - It's fun with friends
World of Goo - I lost interest after I got stuck at this one level
Party Fun Pirate - More of a novelty, really.
TV Show King - Fun with friends. No Wi-fi though
Adventure Island: The Beginning - See my note for the NES version
Wild West Guns - If you liked the shooting game in Wii Play, you'll get a kick out of this. It's basically just that game but expanded on a lot
Equilibrio - It's okay
Let's Catch - Surprisingly addictive once you get the hang of the controls
Lost Winds - It's a plat former, but I was disappointed by it
Toki Tori - I would have loved it if they had a control scheme that used the D-Pad. But it doesn't. They have you either point and click where you want the bird to go or you use the joystick (which feels awkward since he can only move up, down, left or right). Because of this I have a hard time getting into this game.
Rainbow Islands - I thought it's be fun since it was by the guys that made Bubble Bobble. Hahahah! The engine is terrible. When you jump you fall at an incredibly slow speed for some unknown reason.
Bit.Trip Beat - Fun but can be confusing if you're not that good at rhythm games.
Bit.Trip Core - If you sucked at Bit.Trip Beat, stay away from this one. It makes Beat look a lot easier.
The Strong Bad games - get them
Monkey Island - Same as Strong Bad
