The hair shading is kind of weird to me on all 4 sprites, the shorts also kind of bother me but I cannot figure out why (I think they might be pillow shaded, the lightsource just looks indefinite.)

Yeah, Chrono Trigger's style is weird - I've look through all of the sprites, and it's hard to say they have a definite lightsource, so I just winged it. I'll try to fix the shorts, and I've already attempted to fix the bandana.

again, the lineart is fantastic but the shading is rather odd. The way the shine on the hair just suddenly disappears is very strange.


Also, the lightsource on the bandana seems to flip sideways on one of the frames.

ah crap, i cheaply flipped a frame so that's probably what happened with the bandana

I'll fix that in a second, and as for the hair, I'm thinking about doing away with the shine entirely. I don't think it's really working :P

The shine is the biggest issue on all the sprites, the placement in general looks weird and as he has dark hair I think a pure white shine contrasts far too much

You're right, it didn't really make sense. I think I just put it there in the first place because Crono had it, I wasn't really paying attention to how it looked

Much better without the shine. I think the pants look kinda pillowed in the animation, though.

never played cross, if it'd looked like this I would've. I miss chrono trigger series ;_; Crimson Echoes was good but playing such a beta version put a sour taste in my mouth.

If you haven't played Cross I highly recommend you give it a try. It's a different feel than Trigger, but the games compliment each other nicely and it's still a very fun game.

and i totally agree, both games were fantastic and it's a shame that square doesn't want to continue with the series at the moment

i wish i knew how to program, i would totally make other characters from cross in this style and make Chrono Cross 2D ;_;

The bottom portion of the figure is kind of iffy, but good job.

I think this is the most I've ever seen people give crits in one topic here. Anyway, these seem pretty offical if you ask me. Aside from obviously stated stuff from before(thank you Rav you've saved me time).

Made a lot of changes here - the hair is now a darker color and is a little more recognizable, and part of the shirt is a darker shade of grey, like it should be. There's a few other changes here and there, but that's it for the noticable ones.

Oh and up walking.

On the first/fourth frames, his right/left foot (respectively) looks odd, as if it is lifting too high.


EDIT: Like, it literally looks like he's trying to kick himself in the butt or something

Either way it looks alright animated, it's just in the standalone frames that you can sometimes see something not looking right.

I think it could be a little brighter, though less saturated. It'd probably match with the other sprites better that way.
