The not-so-clever acronym stands for:
Paper
MArio
Rpg
BattLe
Engine

I haven't seen many RPG battle engines for Game Maker, so I decided to make my own!

Features included so far:
- Mario's Jump and Hammer attacks (with an Action Command for the former).
- Action Command text ("Nice!", "Good!", etc.).
- Guarding and Superguarding.
- Enemies in pairs taking turns to attack.
- Miniboss and boss examples.
- Attack Items:
- Fire Flower Shooter
- POW Block

Nice job, one little thing I think that should be fixed though; I reckon the damage picture should appear after you hit the goomba with the hammer, not before. Other than that, good job.

To be honest, your acronym is way better than anything I seem to be able to come up with.

And this looks quite nice. I'll try it out once I get in Windows since I don't want to fiddling with WINE.

NO. The LAST thing MFGG needs is more engines. Try looking on the Main Site or Searching the Forums, I'm sure you can find one that was already released.

Anyways, this is a very good engine! I do hope you use it in a game and don't release the source.

Theres hardly as many good engines as this. i only counted 2 battle engines!

Do this or else you will be slammed with a bunch of these posts.


@Yoshbert, this is really great! If you do decide to release it, just make sure to force the users to change some of the values so its not the same game with differents sprites.

@ Mirror: I'll look into that. Thanks for alerting that to me.

@ Batandy: Thanks! I was thinking of making an overworld engine to go with this, but for now I'll focus more on battle stuff.

@ DeeY: Those look really nice! I can use the HP one, but do you mind if you could make one for FP (Flower Points), too?

@ everyone else: Thanks for all the comments! I am actually thinking of making this into a game, but not until I add more features. And don't worry OniLink and MechaBowser, no open source for any of you! =P

Right now, I'm adding the use of healing items (Mushrooms, etc.) and attack items (Fire Flower shooters, POW Blocks, and the like). Stay tuned.

Good, my main complaint is the timing is a bit strict, I only got one nice. Also the win pose is a bit glitchy.

Added the Fire Flower Shooter and POW Block as items. Also started work on the HUD (thanks to Sergeant DeeY for the sprites!). Expect a new executable soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention, you can switch rooms with Z and X to battle other enemy types.
